Festival Playlist events and rewards May 12-19 (Winter S7)

Just tried an Open race with that Ford GT 05 “meta” tune someone recommended. Well it’s so meta that everyone went past me at the starting line. It’s the dumbest challenge ever. The devs talk also about accessbility all the time in their PR and then they do this. I’m not going to fall for it and waste hours of my life on this challenge just to boost their engagement stats for their managers.

P.S. Also wasted 128k credits on this tune…

For today’s daily just go to Mulege (Casa Bella house)
There are flower stalls all over the place

Edit: nevermind, looks like there’s a lot of them in just about any city

 I bet there are lots of Challenge Cards for those who can’t be bothered looking for them too. Not that there’s anything wrong with that

Sorry about your experience, but the Ford GT '05 is still the second strongest car in S1. :man_shrugging:

Hope you do try again and get a win, but understand this challenge is not for everyone.

I guess I have no chance against those who play manual with clutch. I mean I got overtaken in the straights by other Ford GT 05s which likely are running with the same tune as I am.

I have won many times online and in all types of racing and i have never played using manual with clutch and i almost never use meta cars. However for the Ford challenge i used the Ford Supervan (upgraded by myself) on S1 900 CC and i won easily all 3 races i did.

It makes it tricker not having the acceleration boost, maybe morseso there. In CC often its more about lines and holding the speed you already have, so maybe that would be better to go for?

That Van is awesome btw. Handling monster.

Gave it a try, but got no chance against a Boneshaker in CC (Yes, in CC)

Edit: Actually managed to do it. I got into a race where there was only one other driver than me, who had a Ford Bronco that was of way lower PI than my Supervan. I guess I got lucky.

Might be people out there jumping in with no intention of winning it just to help others who are struggling. Maybe.

Could be indeed. If that’s the case, thank you very much stranger!

Hope you let them win race 2, as they were probably in a similar position!

I quit at the start of race 2, but 2 other players joined, so I dunno. :frowning:

Maybe I should have stayed and kept ramming the other 2 drivers

:joy: when I did mine there were 2 other Fords and one Ferrari FXX. One of the other Fords won race 1 (I forgot there was a bridge and drove straight off it - not my best driving). I won race 2 and wanted to give the other Ford the win in race 3 but sadly the FXX was in 2nd all race. I did think about slowing them down but that felt unfair, so sadly Ford 3 didn’t get their win that time.

Yeah it definitely says win any Horizon Open Racing Event, not win the (whole) Horizon Open Racing Event!

What happens to those who cannot win a race event? Horizon Open is not easy for some players like myself playing solo. Playing as a group, would be luck based & depending on connection issues. I think “win any/the horizon open racing event” should not even be in the playlist for those who are not pro racers against players who may be unbeatable. The original one such as Play any Horizon Open Event would be better. It seems each week the playlist is getting abit tougher, which is cool but to a certain limit. Last weeks trailblazer was difficult in the city because of the class, but if you were lucky enough, you could complete it.

I can now empathize with those who have been struggling with the open challenge. I also am pretty much a solo player & though I’ve been playing through FH4 & FH5, considering myself a decent player, I pretty much had my a** handed to me in all 3 events . After reading all the posts about it, I decided to tune up my own ‘05 GT at S1 893, maxed out launch & acceleration so thought I had a decent chance. One of the most frustrating aspects was how long it took to actually even get into a S1 class street race. I lost count of how many I “joined” that placed me at the site & then stated it was already in progress etc. I sat & waited to join one with other players & had someone literally pushing my car backwards from the front, for what reason I have no clue (unless maybe they were going for the d-bag accolade). Others were ramming into me during the race & it was pretty unenjoyable. I also choked a few times with target fixation causing me to hit a wall, dead stop etc so yeah, there’s that. But the effort & time was clearly not worth the potential 2 points when you weigh it against the other online events. Guess I should stick to the designs! Good luck to everyone else. (BTW: I’d like to see someone who actually knows how to win races use this tune & tell me what they think, so if you’d like to give a go, let me know!).

Why is it that in Open I’m always waiting for other cars to be ready, but if I’m not absolutely ready when it’s my turn, I get skipped and have to wait again? Just once I’d like to see a message stating, “…Waiting for Tredawn to be ready”.

This week’s tally so far:
-Total time spent waiting for players to be ready, re-selecting my car I’ve already selected, waiting for races to finish, waiting because evidently it skipped me even though I thought I was ready, etc.: 48 minutes.
-Total time spent racing in Open: 13 minutes.

I truly feel like much of this could be sped up and it isn’t a glitch or a bug, nor bad server. I think they’re just slowing the whole gaming experience down to boost the numbers. It isn’t an overly insightful observation, as I’m sure I’m far from the first to claim it, but I do find it mildly insulting.

I hope you are not misunderstanding this on purpose. People needing these options would gladly NOT have to use them.

Accessibility does not mean you get free wins, especially not against other real humans. It’s for single player where nobody (not a paying customer at least) has to lose so you can win.

Imagine the game helps you beat other players, do they get to beat you in return, meaning you get to beat them, and they get to beat you…?

Now you really can say “I could do that in a van!”:metal:

Nice One - Sabine would be proud of that too. Pity it wasn’t a Transit (bog-standard) though.

It’s interesting that for the next series the Open challenge is complete a Race rather than win.
