Hello, turn 10 first of great job trying to improve the game and second I come here to give suggestion and some really cool stuff I wish the game would have. Lets first start with the main discussion. ECU tuning, something I have never seen on any car game, I dont know if there is or was a car game with this type of tune setup. This would bring a whole new level to the game and to be honest I think every player would be satisfied with it. ECU tuning can be changing the rev limiter rpm limit, rev limiter idle, launch control, boost, turbo lag, how the car revs ( I dont know a specific word for that but I mean when a car does watatatatata) and so much more. This would bring a feel of reality to the game, as in players would feel that they can truly modify their cars as they wish just like in real life. I dont know if you read this but you say you do in forza monthlys. This is something that would be totally new in car game franchise. Another thing which is a bit off topic, I saw horizon 4 getting a paint job setting for wheels and I really thought we would have this on forza 7 as well. Please consider this TURN 10, we are not getting forza motorsport 8 anytime soon, so please try to consider to add these to game
I’m pretty sure NFS Underground 2 (2004) had such an option.
hi,
i think all of this ecu tuning would be very complicated to balance, and we would need to have enginefails coused by over reving, also the engine-temperature and many more parameters need to be claculated and for propper enginewaer and also repaircost …
If you use sim damage and manual + clutch, causing engine damage with a fail shift is easy done.
Let’s not forget that cars built before 1985ish do not have ECUs.
Not every car has a turbo or forced induction of any kind for that matter so most of the “ECU” tuning you speak of is not applicable at all.
The game offers engine tuning in the form of upgrades. Want a higher rev limit? Install sport or racing cams. Want more air, fuel, quicker exiting exhaust? Install parts that improve those areas.
ECU tuning is only useful if the car has been built to handle the extra output commanded from the computer in the first place. I own a few cars in real life and one of them is a 2006 mazdaspeed 6 with the 2.3 DISI MZR with a turbo. Mazda set the car to put out 16 pounds of boost from the factory and to rev to 6,700 rpms before maxing. For around $250 I can take the car to a shop and have them “tune” the car to put out more boost, to rev higher, to burn more gas, to activate the VVT sooner. I can do all of these things, but I won’t because there is a reason Mazda set the car up the way they did.
If I don’t upgrade the hardware first upgrading the software will only cause massive reliability issues and quickly lead to catastrophic failures. I understand why you think ECU tuning could be beneficial but if you think about it the best ECU or PCM tunes work to benefit the parts installed on the car. Forza eliminates the need for you to tune or map the ECU when you upgrade the car. When you upgrade the physical components of any car in forza it automatically works to its predetermined maximum potential without you having to program it to be so.
ECU tuning a stock street car is like trying to play a current video game on windows 95. You are going to have issues.
