I love drifting just as much as I do racing, I do both on every forza game I have and have had but I don’t think it should be changed to much drifting wise because there games are perfectly fine as they are I just personally think they should add a few drifting options say side missions etc etc that people that arn’t into don’t have to do also I definitely think they should release a drift car pack for drifters.
Doing that will not change the game at all it will just add options for people that like going side ways which I can’t see any harm in doing so, just an idea
Drifting will play a huge community role but I doubt it’ll be in the campaign mode. Of course you can drift in campaign races if you want and there will be those events that require a minimum score where drifting will be nice, but it’ll be possible without any drifting. The open world caters to drifting, dragging, and everything in between. Everyone can drive in a straight lane, and everyone can turn a corner, but not everyone can cleanly get their car sideways, so why force everyone to do it in a campaign? Just be happy they’ve grasped onto the drifting as much as they have. They didn’t have to include a Trueno in FH1 and if its in FH2 then every drifter will probably have one. Be happy with that.
Everyone can turn a corner but not everyone can perfectly clip an apex and pull 2 tenths from their previous lap time. I see aloooooooot of missed apexes from alooooooooooot of drivers.
Okay congrats. Clipping apexes goes for drifting as well, so your point is…? I’m not saying specializing in one or the other is harder, just that most people find ‘regular’ racing to be easier than drifting. If you wanna talk about perfection, they both have their difficulties.
Let’s not turn this into a measuring contest. OP asked if drifting was going to play a big part in FH2, not if drifting was harder than beating lap times. The consensus seems to be that it won’t or shouldn’t for the campaign but that it definitely will for the multiplayer community. Hooray, we answered someone’s question.
Highly unlikely there would be drift events in campaign, however they could port the Drift hud’s scoring system and scale them to fit skill points. That way drifting rivals events could be possible.
Anyway, I think the skill points/kudos system would be integrated better in H2. The perk which allows you to get xp from skill points is called “XP Everywhere”, so i assume that you get xp from skill points in every gamemode - multiplayer free roam and races included - because why not? At least it wouldn’t have the practically nonexistent skill system in horizon 1’s mp free roam.
I’ve seen this twice in this thread now so I have to ask. They say this game takes place in the South of France and Italy which aren’t that close together and it borders the Mediterranean and yet it also has the Alps in it? I know they’ve said it’s a big map but that would make it relatively huge, like Howard Wolowitz’s mother huge.
Is it safe to assume that it will really be just a made up country resembling a blend of Italy and France with a large body of water on one side and hills/mountains on the opposite?
Drifting as a whole was never designed to be in forza Motorsport the community made it what it is today I have played forza from day one original Xbox and we never had drift lobby’s points or clubs we just did what we could with what we had in the forza one and two days .people who changed everything was team blackjack when they did the trailer for forza 3 . This is when drifting became part of forza so for anyone who says drifting isn’t a big part are wrong but it’s not as big as the the core track racing that’s true . Drifting will not be made mandatory in single player due to the fact it takes time to learn and it’s a hard skill to just make everyone do. Racing should always be the core of forza .
I don’t know how large of a prt it will play in the game, but here’s some points that haven’t been made:
A) It’s open world, if you can drift the car, you can drift the car, right? You aren’t confined to a track and you have the largest map to date that you can drive a vehicle on. There may not be hundreds of events tailored to drifting as it is still more of a point-to-point racing game, but I’m sure you can drift. Go drift you heart out.
B) Has anyone watched any of the PR trailers? Maybe you should go back and watch them again as there is an entire portion of the video where they are drifting. Again, it’s not Forza Horizon: Drift Edition, but drifting will be included.
As to what Goblin said above, yes, most cars that people see as typical drifting cars can be raced, it all depends on the build and tune. With Forza 5 allowing most cars to be made into rear drive and all the swaps that are possible, I expect to see something similar in FH2 and who knows. Experiment with it and see what all you can get drifting.
Its not going to comprise multiple real-world countries. From what I understand they’re taking A+ inspiration from the real world locales and modeling the in-game environment to look a lot like them. This way they’re able to combine the locations from all these places. Since streets and cities and countrysides would be hard to ‘license’ there will probably still be real-world locations, eg how Red Rock was in FH1.
im a drifter and i dont see why people are negative about drifting, it takes skill to powerslide every corner on redrock while your freinds are drifting inches from your rear bumper, i love how forza horizon 1 was made, you had redrock, eagle ridge and carson to drift and youve got the media center to drag and youve got some of the most beautiful roads stringed together so let forza answer the question. theyve already thaught about this argument and made sure everyone is catered for. so dont complain…
