I can’t believe it. Nobody brought up the Delage 15 S8? I’m surprised.
This baby was dominant in the 1927 Grand Prix season, having faced stiff competition from the likes of Bugatti and Talbot-Lago. It had a supercharged 1.5 Liter Inline-8 that developed 170 horses at 8,000 revs per minute, quite a high amount of revs, too for the time. Originally, in 1926, it had twin Roots-type units, but those were changed out for a single 220mm centrifugal blower in 1927. It was with the 15 S8 that Robert Benoist became the first-ever Grand Prix world champion, also becoming a national hero to the people of France in the process. Monsieur Benoist’s fame was as such that policemen would ask speeding motorists, “Who do you think you are, Robert Benoist?” That same car which Benoist won the world champion title with, was later used in 1929 by Louis Chiron at that year’s Indy 500, finishing in 7th place overall despite being 20 mph off-pace.

I’d be fine with this car making an appearance in the next installment of the Forza Horizon series if it isn’t going to appear in FH5 for obvious reasons.
