Totoro is a kind of benevolent forest spirit or king of the forest spirits (I think lol).

Thanks for all the comments gentlemen, I’ve painted his outline tonight - hopefully fill/ shade him tomorrow. Then move on to the next image I have in mind.

Thanks Ace, this one has been fiddlier than most. Even my palette of colours at the side just kept getting bigger lol. So she’s a lot of layers but hopefully worth it in the end.
I still have a couple of other images saved that I haven’t started yet - in terms of time put in, this one is definitely taking it out of me lol. I hope the end result is worth it. At this rate, not sure it’ll all go on one car, with or without layout - so may have to make a mini-series/ couple of paints.

Probable car change - trying to get what I have painted so far on to a car at reasonable sizes.
Still aiming to paint new images for the other side of the car & add more to what’s there now - just trying this out for size to see what it could look like. Totoro is quite wide screen, for want of a better description, so just wasn’t working on the side of the S2000. Also easier to fit Mononoke on the hood and swap the spirited away girl to the side to overlap Totoro (for now). Will see what the next few days brings in terms of layers and inspiration and update when I can.
I already had 3 more images saved to try and paint, for my sins, added a couple more on a google search tonight - wish me luck!

I know that feeling of just having an ever expanded library of source photos. It seems like every time I finish a design I’ve got three more that I decided I want to work on while I was doing the one I just finished. Awesome work on the R33 and I think that the car fits it really well. You want a big body coupe to show off those characters nice and big, they deserve to be blown up for sure!

& Ace, got some more layers down tonight, managed the next outline for the project - Kiki, from Kiki’s delivery service. The age old tale of a teenage witch trying to find her place in the world. Supported by her not so fearless cat.
^Woah! Another very nicely done outline. Can’t wait to see it complete with the fill and everything. She’s looking great so far and did that show ever aire on Cartoon Network? I’m young, I’m only 20 and I feel like at a young age I remember that character. The plot points combined with your image is bringing back some memories. I can’t wait to see this one get done and it’s been years since I remember having seen the show. Might be an anime livery I actually download. If my memory isn’t failing me that is.
