Community Bounty Hunter - Beat me get the Aston (OT)

Thanks for the answer.. I get the weekly rewards but can’t do any multiplayer stuff, including what was required to get the ferrari last month. I can do the normal rivals modes though, so that’s why i’m confused. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you should be right if you can do the rivals then
Always thought you needed gold for that too

It appears to work, I guess I’ll know for sure when I get awarded the car

thanks again for the input!

Triton,

Will it come with the custom livery, too, ala the JPM Bounty Hunter and others from FM4 days?

It is nice to see Turn 10 back to doing events for unicorn cars. The 1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage looks like one sweet vintage ride and I’m confident in my ability to stay ahead of his best lap time in that I’m currently 3.3 seconds ahead of him and that his lap times on other tracks look to be beatable to get the keys to one. Good luck to everyone participating in this Rivals event!

Don’t poke the bear on the first day. (I don’t race B but you can find some times to chase in R Class).

So just for fun I knocked a few seconds off… (This is a first lap time, standing start)

Maybe I should have kept going on the 2nd lap.

That’ll add a layer of competition to what seems to be an otherwise easy path to the unicorn car. Then again, it gives me an idea of what your final time may come out to be. Better work on my time to ensure that it is faster than the time I suspect your best effort will be.

There is some truth to Triton’s statement.

CilettiDad posted the following on our club forum. Thought I’d share it here to give everyone an idea of what Triton is capable of.

In the end it’s just a glorified time trial, nothing more. Which also means everyone with a handicap or disability that isn’t all that fast but just wants to have some fun driving/racing with this game is left out in the cold. Especially with a difficult car like this and on a narrow track like this. This is what I mean: 1:52:xx after 5-6 laps and I couldn’t even get a proper lap in, dirty from the first to the last… sigh.

I’m not one to complain on these forums often but I have to say I’m extremely disappointed with events like this in particular. At least with the Ferrari 312 PB I ended up last place almost every time but at least I could play for lots of hours and eventually still end up in the top 50%. That’s called disabled but motivated. But not for this one, I don’t ever see me put down even a mediocre time.

Breyzipp,

I hadn’t thought about this but you do bring up a good point. You have earned my respect for earning the Ferrari. Good work.

yes I agree with you guys. this is ok as an event but mostly the " elite " gamers will end up with the unicorns . This was a hard one though. If they vary the difficulty then there will be more chances for everyone to get soemthing. The lobby races for obtaining the ferrari 312 was a good way to get a car and I hope turn 10 offer this method again for obtaining a unicorn

You still have a shot:

I believe they are also giving out another 100 randomly to participants. I remember chasing Triton on FM5. There are going to be a lot of fast guys that don’t catch him.

i’m a 100% service connected, total, complete and unemployable veteran. i use the elite controller to map buttons my right hand cannot use. i have to use my ring finger to pull the throttle with my right hand. i have to use auto braking because my left index finger shakes so bad i am my own abs system…lol. my point being that the elite controller can be configured to help overcome some of my disabilities i have. the controller is easier to hold without the battery in the way. i will be doing my best to get the bounty. beware RBW Triton…lol

It takes tons of practice, sweat, determination, and assists off to be fast. The times aren’t necessarily for beginners, but for the people that are experienced at the game that need challenges above and beyond the everyday challenges of the game. Normally the bounty times set are not unachievable by the more experienced racers. Try to teach yourself to race with traction, stability, and braking assists off. Go to manual with clutch. If you can get comfortable with these settings, start pushing yourself. Learn how to brake and hit the apex consistently. You will be amazed at how these things will increase your lap times tremendously.

This person speaks the truth… I am an experienced Forza driver of above average skill, when I set out to lay down rival’s laps I’m usually pretty good for the top 1% - 5% of players. And my first few laps were horrendous in this car, I was running in the 1:50’s. It’s a difficult car for sure. I hate it with a passion. I’d say I probably laid down about 75 - 80 laps trying to beat this time. I had to learn how to drive this car, and still got room for improvement.

As for assists… Depends on the assists you’re running. I beat the time using normal steering and manual w/o clutch, and the friend’s time who I had been chasing was using TCM on top of the same assists I used.

Thanks you both for the positive comments. I will take your advice and give it another try this weekend but just to try to shave off some of my personal time, Triton’s time is WAY out of reach for me. But as a wheel driver now temporary being forced to use a controller, I simply cannot get the hang of using the controller with precision. Assists aren’t the only problem, when I steer with the analogue sticks it’s so hard - near impossible - to steer with precision. A wheel is big, you can increment/decrement steering with precision by just turning the wheel a few centimeters. With the stick, when I have to steer it’s most of the time all or nothing, resulting in this “tick tick tack tack” kind of way to control the car. Maybe I just don’t have the right feeling in my fingers to feel the controller, I don’t know. When a track is narrow like Bathurst, Nordschleife or even some turns here on Brands Hatch, it’s so hard to even take a corner in a proper way. The same goes for the gas and brakes, with those 2 buttons it’s hard to give 50% gas or brakes while with my pedals I have no problem with it. I just don’t ‘feel’ those buttons either.

I watched Super GT’s video yesterday night, excellent info there but I am nowhere near being able to try his tips. My struggles with this track, this car, and especially this frustrating controller are lightyears away from the tips he’s giving.

If I could race with my wheel I’d put in some decent effort to try to beat the time, I’m not sure I would be able to beat it but I would come close at least. With the controller, … I just feel like I’m wasting time. Maybe by the end of the month I can move my Xbox from my living room to my gaming room again and try to play with my wheel and pedals if my injury is better by then but I don’t know if that will be such a good idea.

I messed around with the controller again last night, 80-90% of my laps get dirty, most of them on that turn 1. But I did manage to improve my clean lap from 1:50 to 1:47 after some 20 laps tried. But if you watch my controller driving it’s just one messed up pile of junk.

Are you using normal steering?
I believe it dampens the steering in such a way that the controller has any semblance of control. You could also try and mess with your controller deadzones to see if they help you.

Finally you can pull up the telemetry(I believe you press down on the d-pad during a race) and look at how much you are turning when using the stick, or how hard you have to press to get your throttle or brake to a certain percent.

I hope can get back to your racing wheel soon.
