1961 Chevrolet Impala SS 409

Reason:
The first production Chevrolet vehicle offered with an SS option. In 1961 is option was offered on any Impala for just $53.80. The package included Super Sport trim for both the interior and exterior, chassis reinforcements, stronger springs and shocks, power brakes, a steering column mounted tachometer, spinner wheel covers, and narrow-band whitewall tires. The car’s dashboard received a Corvette style passenger hand bar and a steering column mounted 7000-rpm tachometer. Chevrolet built 491,000 Impalas that year and 453 had the SS package, of which 311 received the 348 cid and 142 received the 409 cid.

I refuse to ask for SS badged cars until they actually return the badges to the cars…

@NeubaumTurk_HK lol I understand with all these hellcats running around, it definitely I missed opportunity. Maybe they will bring out an EV SS model. I want to 1961 in the game because I have one, but I had to justify it. lol

The 1964 Impala is so iconic that I think it goes without saying that it will be in MotorSport.

So this is probably another thread that would benefit from a model year poll, as it would be interesting to see what the 2nd most wanted model year would be!

Personally, the '62 Bubble Top Bel Air (w/ 409) would be the next on my list. Since the Beach Boys were actually singing about that car (for a reason). But I’ve also mentioned the 65-66 SS as well. They could avoid the whole “SS” thing by choosing to bring in a '66 Biscayne COPO car with the 427.

Hopes and dreams…
