Bug Info: As title, the reintroduced Citroen DS 23 is listed in-game under the DS manufacturer label, despite being listed as a Citroen in FH4. The DS sub-brand did not exist until 2009, so it is incorrect to label it as such. DS is the model name in this case, it would be like putting the Audi A4 under the manufacturer label ‘A4’.
Here’s something I posted elsewhere already.
DS Automobiles is an own brand since 2015. It’s basically the luxury brand from Citroen much like Lexus is for Toyota for example. But technically it isn’t correct to have the DS 23 listed under that brand as it obviously was released as Citroen back in the days. Not sure why PGG does it that way? Maybe it’s because the grantor of the licence wants it like that?
It’s about the same with the old Alpine. Alpine was an own brand before Renault aquired it in 1973 but the old Alpine in the game was already released under Renault. Alpine only was revived and became an own brand after 2014. That’s why the old one should actually be listed under Renault and not Alpine.
Technicalities of what was relased when and under what brand might be irrelevant if “Stellantis” requested the car to be branded as “DS”, instead of “Citroen”. Same with “Alpine”.
Very weird situation.
The DS 23 moves from Citroën to DS in between FH4 and FH5.
The 2011 DS 3 Racing moves from DS to Citroën from FH4 to Motorsport (obviously different studio though).
I wonder if this is all related to the weirdness associated with Stellantis and it’s just having a knock-on affect.
The vehicle’s year, model name and brand/manufacturer is all set by the manufacturer so this is highly likely what Citroën wanted.
I also wonder if it’s a sign of things to come and they’re trying to bring some early attention to DS prior to the arrival of more future models from the brand whereas we won’t see much from Citroën themselves.
Hello,
Naming convention is in line with the respective brand agreements
Thank you,
