Well whatever they did yesterday, it didn’t last long, managed a few sessions, then the problems started all over again, couldn’t get online again yesterday evening, have tried again today, still the same.
I was catching up on some YouTube and “dubs” and WazNewz are getting the same problems with Forza, seems very wide spread.
It could have been whoever testing to see if they could fix it, could simply have been a random connection. I logged in at around 3:30pm GMT yesterday and I got the “connecting to Horizon Life session” before i had even left the house…went and did a race and couldn’t connect at all after it ended.
I( put a ticket in days ago all I got was there seems to be a problem with the servers then gave me 3 things to check I noticed on one when the problem started they had tried to increase4 server capacity I did ask when it would be fixed got a reply we dont have an \E T A \for a fix thet then had the guts to ask me what i thought of the support lol I sent my reply both to the survey and as a reply on the ticket no response what a surprise
If you are using google DNS, (8.8.8.8) try changing to another
DNS service (1.1.1.1 for example) this worked for me.
Then you were just extremely lucky…I tried 3 DNS settings (Default, Google, Cloudflare) and none worked
Now I don’t even have online thing any more, says not available.
And NO I’m not gonna mess with Windows because of one game, who’s devs don’t care about it and blame everyone else for their mess.
Not sure how long this gonna take, but I’m not here to deal with somebody else’s mess, I came to relax form everyday madness …

I’m in the UK and I haven’t been able to connect online in FH4 since the weekend now so at least 4-5 days solid. For a game this big I find it genuinely staggering that this issue has been so prolonged and still unresolved. It’s beyond poor. You’d maybe expect this from a tiny independent start-up developer but Microsoft Studios and Playground Games…this is laughable.
I’ve had the game for almost two years now and during that time I’ve often encountered “quirky” issues with connecting online. From only being able to stay connected to a server for 5 minutes or so before being disconnected and immediately reconnected to another server, to not even being given the option of trying to play the game online with the play online button greyed out. Sometimes I’ve fixed this by completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game and other times through reddit and youtube users posting command prompt scripts as work arounds.
None of these issues have been problems with my system, my router, my ISP or anything else I’ve done wrong as an end user. It’s actually been pretty stable online this year but this latest problem of the game saying it’s trying to connect to a horizon life server for a minute or two before telling me it was unable to connect and to run network diagnostics, is by far the worst issue I’ve had.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with my DNS servers or settings and I’m able to connect to the Xbox game servers in the Windows Xbox Networking settings just fine. How much longer will this joke go on for? I can’t believe the developers don’t have a decent enough team to pick up on this kind of server issue within a day of it happening, identify the problem and resolve it within 24-48 hours.
It would be nice for them to at least acknowledge the problem on these forums. What’s the point of a community and fan forum if all we get to do is talk among ourselves without a response from the people who actually make and supposedly maintain the game?

Myself and two others spent an hour trying to get into a session together and had absolutely zero success. Servers are still broke.
Remarkably though, attempting to get into multiplayer in Horizon 3 worked perfectly. Time to race there in the meantime I guess!

When I received that message and noticed the ticket was closed and marked as “solved”, I did reopen the ticket by answering “Is it me, or we don’t understand the word “solved” the same way ?”
And here is their answer :
“We do not need any further information from you at this time. We are aware of the issue and are investigating. The ticket will be marked as solved and we will update the community when a fix has been implemented.

Wanted to post a update to things on my end and not trying to brag but I was able to score a series x a few days ago. I been wondering if i was going to be able to play any horizon 4 online on it as that hasn’t worked so well through my pc. The Series X arrived today and after setup I did a fresh download of horizon 4 which took a few hours. Kicked it on and after 5 (NERVOUS) minutes of data syncing it loaded up. At first the “play online” option was on the menu but after going back to the open world for a sec the AI drivatars vanished and i was online! With just 20 other people though…Didn’t do convoys but did get some online racing on which loaded pretty quick between races as opposed to the 3-7 minute waits I was seeing on pc for a few days now. Took a snack break and reloaded the game and once again all went well with getting online. Max players in session on the menu screen was only 33 though this is around 3am.
I haven’t jumped back to the pc version to see if I got the same luck but I can’t help but wonder if the others that were online are Series X and S users? I’m hoping though rather things are fixed and others on here will have a better experience now.
That would be the new console than things being fixed…from everything I have read and heard, the Horizon life connection issue is largely not an issue for Series X/S players. They did have issues a few weeks ago when there were issues with the game crashing to the home screen but, since the update to fix that, convoy issues have also been solved
so it wont let me join nore creat a life session, but i can still enter team events like playground games and the trials. whats up with that??? also i noticed that ive been relocated to the festival hub for home base and it wont let me move in to any of my homes…
Same here, cant join live session, but can join another online events
After the season has changed to Spring, I was able to join into a session.
EDIT: after I restarted the game, the same problem appeared again…

Forza horzion2 no problem so what’s going on.
extra info: You can start team adventure in convoy even if your convoy players are not in the same session. Once adventure is created it will connect people from convoy.

Yep, that’s the only way for convoys containing non-X/S consoles to run…not ideal as you can only do team racing and you can’t hang out in the same session between racing but it is what it is
Thought it was fixed! went and did my first Forzathon, all ok, played online for 45 mins, then when i came back and started the game, got the same old message, still broken, why it should let you play for one session, then not work again, i’ve no idea…
This is getting silly now, another season with now serves? and no Forzathon points.
