The 1970 model year introduced the 500 cu.in. with high compression. The 1967 has the old 429, 68 and 69 equipped with the 472.
The 1970 was the most powerful with 400 hp @ 4400 rpm and 550 lb-ft @ 2800 rpm.
For 71 model year the Eldo along with all GM vehicles was equipped with the low compression version of the 500ci to run on unleaded fuel.
