Bots corner ["#RCC2019 WIP#1 Sketch and Considerations ^^.]

That’s pretty cool. I’m liking the adaptation and usage of the license plate’s and user created aesthetics for the vehicle. Excellent work on the BMW especially if it’s just the start of a sketch! Waiting with anticipation to see the final outcome of this project.

Thanks for the comments. License Plate details finished and cut some more holes into the body… More to come. Hood vent color is a bit brighter now as suggested, but it’s still not good. Will try different colors for outline and shadows or redo the outline smaller or gradient.

Your bodywork is coming along nicely! The rivets are well done as are the smaller vents. Good job too in keeping them consistent with the car and working with the lines that already exist. I like the side scoops and extra lip you added to the front. The hood is looking good indeed. Keep up the good work. I love when people paint 3D bits, it’s one of my favorite things to do.

tremendous job on the drift droid car, absolutely loving that.

looking forward to the bimmer

Stopped the E36, because I tried different fantasy rally patterns and couldn’t be pleased. And for the main reason: I rarely drive it.
So far so good, didn’t want to start a new project because I want to dedicate my editor time for RCC. I just wanted to put the Foxtrott GTI decals (my first livery) on a newer Golf and go beat some rivals in the Super Hot Hatch category. but it ended in a long night in the paint booth. Playing Copycat for some real Manufacturer Logos using the Sketch Designer tool (Making this kind of work easier), reworked the Fox and stuff for efficiency reasons. Now I’m ready to try some rivals in the Foxtrott R - Dini Edition. Just couldn’t do so many laps in a non-painted car.

Using gif to lessen scrolling.

Dinis tune here:

I’m liking the Foxtrott GTI, excellent work on the decals and their placement. I use to roll around in one of these before getting a Jeep. Gonna give it a download. Keep it up.

Wow Ele, I knew you said you liked that Golf setup I had uploaded, but I DID NOT expect you to make an awesome paint and incorporate my DINI tag into it. Thanks much for the thought!!!

Thats a very classy looking logo and I love how clean the White came out, the front fenders/bonnet venting work shows your experimenting paid off  Even the wheel finish looked extra nice in person. Nice work.
Now that you pointed out we had a Rivals section (believe it or not I thought we only had “monthly” rivals) I will have to make use of that tune and your paint.

Looking forward to doing some work with you in the future, Thanks.

Thx Dini, you put a lot of work into these tunes, so I think I should at least try to do put some effort into the paints. Anyway, my next project is my first classic car. Don’t have the patience or skill for replicas, so I’ll go with a fantasy livery that kinda should look like it could have been a racecar in the 70’s.
Put a lot of effort into the main sponsor that really gave me a headache. Found that sponsor/logo when I googled 70’s advertising and had to clone it. Copied the outline, shaded freehand. I’m partially pleased now, but the details that worked out well are too tiny to be seen and some not so good details are now very present. But don’t want to rework it again only when I have to. Feedback would be appreciated. Honest feedback, I want to improve and you guys are a bit too friendly. Found some detail you don’t like? Tell me! Picture of sponsor on the car is below. Roof and Car Color is what I am going for, but that isn’t a finished livery. Will probably be weathered at the end to represent a barn find or smth. Concentrate on sponsor and colors only please.

Editor shot. It’s sloppy on some areas and better on others. Still looks different when scaled down and on the car.

I like your attitude towards improving Bot :+1:t5: If you’re getting nice comments about your work I’d say it’s because you deserve it. Personally, I’m really enjoying following your thread & your WIPs in particular - well done on the new version of the FOXTROT design by the way as well as the Widebody work.

I’m afraid I only have positive feedback regarding your main sponsor though, LoL! I understand that you might have misgivings about some of the detail, we are all our own worst critics, but I think it looks very good. Now I could go and Google the image to compare but honestly I don’t want to. I’d rather compliment someone for making the effort and appreciate some of the attention to detail like the ‘R’ in RECORD, which could’ve easily been done in standard font and probably nobody would’ve been any the wiser.

I’m no expert on race cars from that era but I like the colours anyway… I get the idea behind the weathered/barn find look but I think it’d still be quite cool if it was a barn find that had been fully restored to new. Up to you, either way. Looking forward to the next wip :slightly_smiling_face:

Can’t find any faults or nit pics with your current work in progress Bot. I’m liking the weathered effect. I’ve only worked on an old Ferrari vintage racer but nothing on the scale you are doing. You did a good job nailing the old school record player and good job on the kitty lol.

Thank you for your feedback. As usual, I’ve done moving and shifting shapes for a whole time. Finished the layout 3 times and threw it away again. Just couldn’t get the Classic Rally style right with the current logo, so I changed everything. Was looking for a car that fits my wishes for the RCC contest and this was one I thought about using. But I decided otherwise. Still, I loved the looks and the sound of that beauty, so I just threw that logo on that car and gave him a look that could be a classic hot rod style. At least for me. Logo and colors fit better on that. Weathered RatRod Version is coming when I’m pleased with the results. Rat or the Alpine will be next, depends on how both work out.

Really digging that deep Red/Burgundy on the Rod Ele, anxiously looking forward to the Alpine as well

first off, extra credit for finding this particular logo and then even making it.
Like you said, scaled down on the car, most of the times it doesnt look the same. I presonaly like the look on the weatherd paint car, that color so suits the logo.
so far i made crocodiles and anime girls, but i can imagine the work that must go into making cat hair look good.
If anything, when scaled down you may end up actualy cutting some detail layers that seem to blur because of the scaling.

ayway like i said before, i like how you get your ideas, and im looking forward to whatever comes next from your mind to a car.

Also excellent work on the new Golf, looks very fresh

Thanks for your comments and your commendations. I’m sorry Dini, but I just did something else before finishing what I started, but I have to go with the flow of imagination.

Considerations:
Started my WIP on the RCC2019. I decided to go for the Supervillain Megavolt from the Darkwing Duck Series. So I searched for pictures a few days, watched a few episodes and got into the right mood. And I came to a conclusion. Disney is offering me this Megavolt: (Not my picture, its Disney Wiki)

But I want THIS Megavolt (I know this isn’t Megavolt ^^:)

I found a great fanart of which I liked the pose a lot, but I didn’t want to just copy someone else’s artwork, I want to do my own. All the Logo copying for previous 2 cars pretty much felt like work already. Still, consider the pose stolen, but I think it’s ok.

Freehand drawing out of imagination in Forza Editor is kinda hard without any hints or helpers for me, because I’m not an artist and often have problems with proportions when I do it. (Not only in Forza)
For my usual amateur artworks I use reference pictures of a specific pose that helps me with the scaling, like that wooden doll painters use.
I mashed up 2 screenshots from a youtube episode of Megavolt (Fingers and head for proportions), some bits of the wiki picture and the artwork I stole the pose from, as a helper picture to start off with.

Long Story short: First Sketch is finished, No helper pictures needed anymore. (**Battery not included) Outline has 160 Layers so far, will change different areas, and details will be added like the iconic cable on the belt. But I think I can keep it below 200 when reworking some areas I don’t like yet. Head is already detailed and changed in third iteration and has a bit of aggression and strain needed for zapping the [Pit] out of Darkwing. But so far I’m pleased with the general thing. Should look more muscular, powerful and mighty like he should be and I think it will work with the style I tried to go for.

Any thoughts from the experienced guys? How do you do free drawing in Forza? Or do you illustrate/photoshop and copy when making your own characters/pictures?

Everything in here is looking very very good. If you really need someone to give you a little kick I would just say move in the direction of making period logos so that you can have a full on Cadbury racecar. That being said that logo is amazing and I am very impressed.

As for your methods for crafting your character that is incredibly creative. I don’t do much fantasy stuff, all of my layer groups exist already, I don’t draw figures in custom poses. That is art and I don’t have a single negative word to say about it. If your praying for something negative then your probably gonna be disappointed unless you totally biff the shading.

Lastly, as for logos. Don’t stress so much about the really tiny fine points if you’ve got it blown up full scale in the logo editor. When scaled down on the car you lose so much.
