THIS IS NOT A WISHLIST
I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the BMW i8? Yes, this is probably not the right thread but, this is a highly requested car and I want to know what people see in it. If you don’t understand what I mean, I want to know why people want the i8. I am personally diggin’ the M4.
. (If you are a mod and you don’t want this thread here, go ahead and lock it. It wont affect me and if it cleans up the forums… Why not?)
I think this may have been better put in General Discussion or the Other Automotive subforum if i’s still there.
Personally, I think it’s exciting to see some of the cars such as the i8 that manufacturers are making actually quite sporty with a lot less due to stricter regulations. This is the reason many European manufacturers are busy working on hybrid or all electric cars of varying potency to compete within a market that does have stricter regulations on emissions and gas mileage and to directly compete with the Model S.
Do you like driving the Tesla Model S in the game? Would you love it if it were AWD? In future games, it may be since the introduction of the Dual Motor model… Now, imagine more cars that could directly compete with the Tesla’s or sporty hybrids in a championship category.
Does Horizon offer the power upgrade the P85D has with the front motor or is it simply a generic Forza RWD → AWD swap? I also have mine in an AWD set up but I don’t think it has the extra 220 something horsepower which would be nice.
Currently, Forza Horizon 2 has the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, and the Tesla Model S. If in Motorsport 6 or Horizon 3 they add some cars that were modeled on the Xbox 360 we may also get the Tesla Roadster and the Nissan Leaf. These cars are all bundled into Championship Categories with other cars. I know we won’t see the Porsche 918 in the foreseeable future, but once these cars start coming out, a future title could have a category of Hybrid or Electric cars where they could compete with each other. Including cars based off of current models is not seem like something Turn10 will likely do - realistically, what we might see is Engine Swaps to include Hybrid Powertrains but in a racing game??? Sure, just not what’s available to the general public now.
The i8 is the first step down this road so that’s why you probably see it requested a lot. Outside of the LMP cars in the Motorsport side of things, there’s not a lot there and some people want it.
I think the i8 is a joke. Since its electromotor has a ridiculous cruising range of only 37 km ( 22,9 mi) it is only able to drive one single “fast” lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The three cylinder engine alone has not enough power to accelerate this car in an adequate way. Its no competition for the Mercedes AMG GTS and the Audi R8. Its no secret the i8 is not even competitive for average garbage trucks.
BMW urgently needs to drop the electro garbage out and put a real engine in it.
So the electric motor in the Porsche 918 (10-19 miles) and that of the P1 (7 miles) renders the whole car a joke too? These two use the electric motors as a performance enhancer, much like a turbo or supercharfer might. Likewise the i8 is designed to run in tandem with the electric motors to combine power and fuel efficiency. Sure, there is an electric only mode, but that’s more designed for pottering around villages, etc. The I8 is a statement, an attempt at a relatively affordable hybrid sports car (granted, not brilliant). The electric motor is becoming a sign of what’s to come.
Think about it this way, Mercedes have fitted a 112 (ish) BHP electric motor to the S-Class, that’s a much less brilliant idea.
I’ve seen a lot more of them when they came out, not as much any more although I did see one today. Im in Santa Monica btw. I think these cars look great but a little too conceptual. Would I drive it? Yes! lol
I kinda agree and disagree at the same time. It’s great that there’s an electric option, but a conventional gasoline (or petrol if you’d prefer) option would be nice…but what would it’s competition be? I mean, the 911 is about a half foot shorter and the price difference would be a somewhat hefty gap.
You must remember that if they were to add the i8 to Forza, you would be able to completely change the engine. So for all of you petrol heads out there, it wouldn’t be as hopeless as you think. Besides, is the Tesla Model S is in there, they can make a new category to put those cars in. Maybe call it Hyper Hybrids. IDK. Anyone got better ideas? xD
