As many people know Mazda is famous for their usage of the Rotary engine dating back to the Mazda Cosmo L10 of the 1960s and lasting up until 2012 with the Mazda RX-8 featuring the last production rotary engine (for now).
Autozam is a spin-off brand of Mazda centred around smaller cars (e.g Kei Cars) for the Japanese market and therefore it would be appropriate for them to receive some Mazda-themed engine swaps.
Currently the Autozam only features 3 Inline engines (I4 VVT, I4 Turbo Rally, Racing I6) and a V6 engine as swap options.
The Rotaries would be especially appropriate given that the Autozam Az-1 itself is tiny and the engine was pretty famous for its small packaging.
Currently FH5 features 3 Rotary Engines that could be options:
1 - 1.3L Rotary Turbo
Source: 1990 Mazda Savanna RX-7
2 - 1.3L 2-Rotor Twin-Turbo
Source: 1997 Mazda RX-7
3 - 2.6L 4-Rotor
Source: Mazda 787B (Forza Motorsport)
The first two engines from the RX-7 models would be absolutely perfect for the little Autozam and allow us to build it thematically for either B or A class.
The 4-Rotor from the 787B on the other hand is definitely more of a stretch goal that would just be for fun.
I agree, Us die hard rotards are missing so much in the franchises, it drives me nuts but i deal in hopes it will change at some point. But RE Amemiya as well as others have already swapped Rotarys into AZ-1’s. so its definitely not far fetched.
