A letter to the Forza community from Alan Hartman, Head of Turn 10 Studios

Wow so the only time we get a response from someone at T10 and it’s just to shut down someone on a forum by correcting their spelling…

I am literally finding it so hard to comprehend how we are a month nearly into VIP release and we still don’t have the Auction House and other features. I just can’t believe I spent £80 on a game for this. Yes the career mode is entertaining but I don’t think getting thrown in the doghouse by my girlfriend for spending £80 on a game was worth it for what I got with Forza 7.

It’s sad that a good 85-90% of players in this forum agree with me. Where are our 2x credits? Why is multiplayer such a fass.

Does anyone know what time the update will go live tomorrow (GMT)? I’m in all day till the evening so will be waiting patiently mwhaha hopefully this update turns Forza 7 into the game we all expected running up to the release or I will be putting the disc in my toaster and then I will dash it out the window with pure magnum force :wave:t2::wave:t2::wave:t2:

Hey Turn10 I’m not here to complain about the loot boxes or the 2x boost or the storefront, or the auction house, ive been a VIP for about 6 days now and i didn’t receive the 4 new FE cars and the 1,000,000 Cr. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the VIP content and still nothing, Help please.

Forza 3 was the one that caught my attention. Forza 4 is the one that made me abandon Gran Turismo for good. What a masterpiece Forza 4 was… It feels like the old Gran Turismo 2, which in my opinion was the best car game of its time. I didn’t play FM5, but I did play FM6; as a matter of fact, I bought an Xbox One just for that game. FM6 felt a bit watered down compared to FM4 when it came to the career mode, but it still kept its spirit. And you still had freedom to enjoy your cars however you wanted. Witnessing how the gaming industry has slowly changed for the bad, I had a bad feeling that was the last good car game I would ever play, but then came out FH3 and completely changed that odd feeling. How right I was… With FM7, the franchise, and any hope of having a good car game a-la old Gran Turismo and Forza 3-4 is gone. That is unless an indie developer comes out and makes one, but considering the millions of dollars it costs to make a game of this caliber, that is unlikely.

It’s a pretty dark time to be a gamer and car enthusiast.

I thought we were only a vocal minority that could be safely ignored by T10, but the game is currently rating 2.3 in the Microsoft Store. Considering this was supposed to be the flagship to induce migration to the Xbox X, perhaps it will damage sales enough to make T10 hear us (I, for one, have canceled the purchase). If they are unable to fix the game, perhaps they could give us Forza 4 Remastered, or at least include Forza 4 in the Xbox One retro-compatibility list, as it has already been done with the original Forza Horizon.

at that time horizon was out for 360 and x-one… is not a " retro-compatibility " thing… just to clarify

The original Horizon never came out for Xbox One, that was Horizon 2.

I think you are wrong on this regard. FH1 was for the Xbox 360 (I have the game DVD), FH2 may have been for both. See here.

I should have waited, the game doesn’t even run properly for longer than 15 minutes, crashes all the time. Almost a month in with no updates to make it playable on pc. This is a really crap way of releasing a game.
If this game was a car: ME - I bought your brand new car, but it only has 3 wheels. And the engine stops every 10 minutes
THEM- Hmmm not sure how that happened, we will look into it

This Bussiness model sucks,

I’m not sure when it became ok to release crap of this standard and actually charge money for it.
Shame on you

It became ok, when they realized people will pay top dollar for it. Many individuals even loan these multi-billion dollar corporations thier money, interest-free, (i.e. pre-order) in order to help these companies create said product.

FM7 NEED FM4 FEATURES ( all the stuff we have in FM4 and we don’t have since FM5) and we need a better MP (FM2 with penalty and tournament system ).

oh right was the fh2

FM7 Pros VS Cons

Cons:
short single player campaign than most other fm games
cars locked behind loot crates
no AI in private lobby
no microphone control
no playground games
although load times hidden better they aren’t actually any better than 6 only a slight improvement on 5
no auction house 1 month after release
vip rewards still broken 1 month after release
too many PC compatibility problems to list here
porsche key sweepstakes implies that porsches try to start but fail when wrong key is inserted (ok not really the games fault but come on we are car fans and that is a childs mistake)
key sweepstakes says almost 1 million dollars in prizes fine print says less than 340,000 (again not the games fault but still a $660,000 rounding error???)
outfits all include face masks (would have been fine except its a step backwards from fh3 which did include faces.
no pit crews even though the demo sure made it look like they were included.
AI issues
BADGES: this is by far the laziest part about this game. every other forza game badges have been rewards for achievements. now they are prizes, not only are they prizes but they are two tone icons and the only difference between rare and common is the background color. Also somehow nobody has tier level 1 or 12 badges or the badge for played forza before. epic fail guys

Pros:
purchase cars faster
see all cars in one screen
load times hidden better

I agree, the see all cars in one screen option is good, but it would be better if we were able to get in a car if we select one on that screen.
Now we have to cycle through a list full of stutter and lag due to it loading the 3D models constantly.

Really? I’m finding that I’m getting cars slower than previous games I’ve played, unfortunately.

Maybe we should reach out to Windows 10 for this important feature that is missing from the game?

Please for the love of god authorize refunds for retailers. At this point I just want my money back.

They don’t control retailer refunds, except Microsoft. Most retailers control their own refund and return policies.

Game in the UK will tell you politely to Foxtrot Oscar once the security tape is taken off and you want a refund. It’s a long and tedious battle.

That is typical for retailers. However, if T10 told retailers they would cover the loss of any refunded copies that are returned to T10, retailers would happily give refunds as they would not be losing any dollars. T10 needs to step up and do the right thing here. The issue is that it will set a precedent for the industry. These guys would rather lose customers then open the flood gates on quality based returns. Imagine how many devs would go down in flames if you could return crappy games! It would be a huge win for gamers because the quality of games would shoot up from fear of financial ruin. Unfortunately, the no return policy has made the devs safe to release broken and unfinished games without much if any repercussion. We have really done this to ourselves by accepting the policy. On the bright side though, we as consumers have the power and can force the issue if we work together to show that this is unacceptable by not buying anymore T10 products and making sure other devs know it and know why so they do the right thing when it is time.
