A few ideas for a new racing game inspired by Forza

For me (and I’m 99.9% sure everyone else), each Forza Motorsport title has had its pros and cons. So I thought: What if you could combine the best qualities of each into one game?

And that’s how I came up with this list of ideas for a future game (not branded as Forza, mind you, but something different.)

CAREER MODE
FM5 may not have had a good amount of content, but it at least did career mode right: After completing the introductory series (Modern Sport Compact), you could enter any series at any point. In each series, you had to complete ten events (usually half circuit races, half other event types) to unlock optional bonus races.
That’s pretty much the way this game will execute career mode. Each series will consist of these event types:
Circuit Races: Multilap race against a field of 23 AI opponents, all driving cars from the same division as yours, to beat them across the finish line. Payouts are based on your finish position relative to opponents.
1v1 Races: A race against one single AI opponent driving a car from the same division as yours.
Track Days: An event where all the AI opponents are driving cars in a lower PI class than yours, and you have to pass a certain amount of them to complete the event.
Spec Races: A circuit race where all 23 AI opponents are driving the same car as yours.
Multiclass Races: A race against AI opponents, with a mix of cars in your PI class and cars in a different one, resulting in different traffic patterns.

FREE PLAY
This is something that FM2023 does well: You select a car, then select an event type, then the track, weather conditions, and time of day (or let the game randomly select the latter three for you), and then the amount of drivatars.
So this new game will do it the same way… but the grid limit will be increased to 39 AI opponents, to better reflect some real-life racing series. Also, you will be able to press a button, and the game will automatically select a random car for you to use.

RIVALS MODE
Pretty much the same as there is in FM2023.

Yeah, but this was exactly the plan for FM, they just couldn’t make it cause Microsoft is obviously not interested in gaming anymore, they’re just here for the cash.

They did say the career mode was inspired by FM4 and they wanted to improve the way you were connecting with the cars, therefore they made the Builders Cup. Problem is, they did a pretty bad job at that.
They also tried so many other things to bring back the old Forza charm, if they now change the name and just redo the entire Build from the Ground up scheme, then it’s just another cash grab. There is no way that Forza can recover from this and T10 is definitely not in the position to fix it.

The only way I see another Forza Motorsport game coming out is, if some other developer buys the license for the ForzaTech engine and develops a completely new project with a new name. Kinda like Reiza did it with AMS2, where they just took the Madness engine from PC2 and saved the franchise from it’s sad PC3 end.

T10 is just not in the position to make a good racing game anymore, this studio has been destroyed by Microsoft.

And that’s pretty much what I was thinking.

Do you realize how large the game would be with the amount of tracks and content you’re asking for?

You’re basically asking something on the level of Automobilista 2, and that sim is already above 110 GB without having much cars or FM’s level of graphics

Would that even be able to happen though? T10 is a Microsoft company, therefore MS owns the Forzatech engine…I can’t see them selling it given it’s being used currently for the FH games and they are making Fable using it. I could see them maybe letting an outside developer use it for a fee.

They technically just need to sell the license to use it, like Giants Software letting the Giants Engine be used by the Project Motor Racing devs. Of course there is a lot of legal stuff, eg. it can be that the Giants engine is only licensed for PMR but not any other game that may be developed by the same devs in the future.
It all just depends on the legal fine print, but I could see a potential future where the ForzaTech Engine is used for other games from other studios, but that is of course very unlikely. But now with T10 being just a support studio of Forza Horizon and Fable, it could be that, if the ForzaTech Engine is performing well, they could use it for other Microsoft owned studios who might not have a powerful engine themselves.
But then on the other hand, looking at how rather bad the new ForzaTech Engine is performing in Forza Motorsport, it’s probably more likely that other studios wanna stick to their own ways.
