So, 2.4 hour leman. Cool stuff, right? A group of four friends of mine try and get into a game. Not only can we not get into a game together, but ALL the lobbys have a 1.5 hour or more waiting time. Well, a couple of my friends can’t wait that long, so it end up just being two of us waiting… and waiting… and waiting to start a 2.4 long race and complete the 250 lap challenge.
So, time passes by, and we get in. 12 people total. Immediately, people crash from the start, chaos ensues, and I fight my way from the back to get into the gold medal winnings. I hold this spot the entire. Freaking. Race. Fast forward 2.4 hours. Fanal lap, me and my buddy can taste victory. I have almost 300 laps under my belt. Less than a minute left… 45 seconds… 30 seconds… 20 seconds… 14 seconds… then…
GRAY SCREEN. YOU HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM THE SESSION. With 14 freaking seconds remaining on the clock, and me with a gold medal win on an event that I spent hours to do and to complete a 250 lap challenge at that!!!
SERIOUSLY!!!? I wanted to ninja kick my freaking TV, XBOX, and CONTROLLER through the drywall. I recorded the last minute of racing and it’s total crap show with my Game DVR as proof. I want to know what I have to do to get turn 10 to not only reward me of my time, but keep me as a customer. I have never been so angry at a game. I have had almost no issues with this until now.
To be fair, it is hard to say if the disconnect was the result of the server or your service provider’s connection. If the rest of your buddies had finished the race, it could very well have been a issue on your end. All it takes is a split second for you to lose your connection with Xbox Live and you’re kicked.
It sucks and I feel bad for you and the time you spent; unfortunately, in today’s age of technology, these things are more common than not. I suppose the best thing to remind ourselves of is how much of a luxury these things are and chalk it up as bad luck.
Considering the fact not everyone could get into a race together, WITH open networks, and the fact I have NEVER dropped out of a race before, yes I can almost 100% assure you it was not on my side. Especially since I remained in my chat party the entire time.
And yes, there is compensation to be made here. But since you’re not turn 10, your opinion really isn’t needed in that matter though. Thanks for your ummm… apathy.
I understand that you’re upset, but exactly what do you expect Turn10 to do? Its a game, do you really think they are going to compensate you? Good luck with that…
I love how many of these posts pop up, and people still point to the possibility of a service provider issue. The online connectivity of games on the new system is pathetic compared to the good old 360.
Unfortunately though, in pretty sure this is a microshaft issue, rather than T10, so not really sure what you expect T10 to do.
I really couldn’t imagine spending that long in a game only to be spat out. Id probably end up needing a new controller though, and TV lol…
