Xbox one question

Is there a way to turn of the kinects hand signals? I even bought a tv mount with a cover for the camera and it still senses what it thinks are hand signals with the cover on.

You can turn Kinect off. Follow these instructions: Xbox Support

Make sure you take the time to calibrate the kinect. This may help a great deal.

For some reason I didn’t know there were hand signals until a couple of weeks ago. I had never had them pop up, or even try to get them to pop up. I only use the voice commands. I don’t have anywhere to put the Kinect because my TV is a weirdly shaped TV on the top so it can’t go there. I don’t have a table that is close enough to my Xbox to put it on. Oh well, it recognizes me and does the voice commands properly so that’s all that matters to me.

You could always try a Kinect wall mount if you can’t put it on your TV.

wallmount

I have looked into every possible way to get it to work, and nothing will. The TV is an 8 year old Hitachi 52 inch TV with a rear projector (so it’s a huge flatscreen). The top is curved so that the Kinect can’t sit on it without being very wobbly. It is sitting in a corner, not on a wall. I can’t really see where a wall mount would work. But I have the money saved for a new TV just in case. But since I got this TV for free 2 years ago, I figure I’ll keep it till it dies and then buy a 42 inch with a table to put it on which will be where Kinect will sit. The TV is slowly starting to develop a lot of problems, so I don’t want to put any money into something I won’t need soon. Right now, Kinect is sitting on top of my Xbox One which is facing me, but it’s a little too high to see me easily. I don’t have any Kinect games anyways, so it works for now.

that sound like a faulty kinnect to me. call customer service and have them replace it.

still get the kinnect replaced. if its still “seeing” stuff with a lens cover its faulty. even if you dont plan to use it you may decide to sell it some day. plus if its like alot of electronics once something starts going out it causes power surges or something and other stuff starts going out too. try using a fried graphics card that has over heated too many times and you can damage other parts in your pc and even corrupt your os. better to get it replaced free while its still under warranty.

go into kinnect setting with the lens cover on and choose “what does kinnect see” and “what else does kinnect see”. if it sees anything its faulty. i might have thought a piece of lint or a bug on the lens confusing it but when you said you had the lens cover on it that pretty much ruled that out. if its seeing nothing you might try recalibration it and see if its just a software glitch by choosing “i moved my kinnect”. if that dosn’t fix it get a new one while its still free for you
