Xbox one fully functional, Forza 5 not so much

Everything AOK until a week ago - now all we see is “There was a problem with the update” message when launching (only) Forza 5. I have 32GB+ of data saved to the HDD associated with this game, months of grinding, and a few in-app purchases. Delete / reinstall is not an option…and every other function, app, and game on the device works perfectly. After a week of searching for a solution beyond power cycles it’s time to call no-joy. Any thoughts?

Do you have port forwarding setup on your router for the xbox?

By power cycling do you mean holding down the power button on the console to turn off and on? Try that and reboot your router while the console is off.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Forza will leave your saved game intact since it is saved in the cloud. Just make sure that your internet connection is stable before starting the following steps.

  1. Make sure Forza is not running (it can be at the very first screen).
  2. If it was the last app running go to dashboard and on the big Forza Icon press the menu button and choose quit, then do the same and choose uninstall.
  3. If it was not the last app running go to my games and apps and once again press the menu button on the Forza icon and choose uninstall.
  4. Once completed do another cold boot of your console and while it is off reboot your modem/router.
  5. Once router is back on and fully connected restart your console and insert your Forza 5 disc and let it fully install and download ALL updates completely before restarting your game. DO NOT load Forza 5 until all updates are downloaded.
  6. Once all updates have fully downloaded then go into the game and load your saved file. Your saved game should still be intact.
