Xbox Collectible Console Sweepstakes

Hey to everybody outside of the good old US of A, I take it that the new collectible xbone consoles are going to be available worldwide so will be for sale in each of all of our home nations so why oh why is the Xbox Collectible Console Sweepstakes not available to anywhere outside of Americal. Once again gamers worldwide are treated like second class citizens and this time Microsoft\Turn10\Playground cannot hide behind the good old ‘‘It’s the sponsors fault’’ because THEY are the sponsors so why is this not available to gamers outside of America because once again it looks like you couldn’t give a damn for anyone outside of the states. We all buy consoles, we all buy the games, we buy all the addons and we pay for Microsoft Gold to go online and usually because of a strange exchange rate you all operate that bears no reality to an actual international exchange rate we pay much more than our American cousins. I realise much of what is on offer in America is caused by the sponsors own demands and legalities which restrict the operation of such competitions and relevant prizes however I must say your advertising and sponsorship departments are falling down on the job by not finding other sponsors worldwide who want to have their name tied to the Forza brand to name one of many games whose devotees would benefit from such sponsorship and competitions. We do not want much in fact just occasionally the chance to enter a competition with prizes that are the equal of those we so frequently see as being unique to America and America alone is that really to much to ask for. I must just say to all my American gaming bretheren that this is not having a go at you I realise that your right to participate in such competitions is well earned but in the name of fairness you must also recognise that other gamers worldwide deserve some of the same recognition for the cash WE spend and the time we spend playing the games. Europe supplies the lions share of all the cars that have ever been on Forza and I am sure that many of the companies who built the original vehicles would wish to be involved in supplying prizes in competitions such as these so why don’t we see the same benefits that American gamers enjoy open to gamers outside of the states. Sorry for ranting on but this is a practice I will always find unfair as we spend as much worldwide as ever was spent in the USA but for our loyalty all we ever get is a smack in the teeth and shed full of poor excuses as to why this is so. Rant Over

Legal reasons most likely, law isn’t the same in every country. Plus if they’re giving away a US console I believe the power rating is different for different countries, at least here in the UK it is, so it’s not certain the console would actually function.

These new collectible consoles are going to be available worldwide and as they are Microsoft consoles surely the rest of the world could have had a chance to win them as well, all I see is the advertising and sponsorship arm are just a lazy bunch of useless gits who are happy to dish up sponsors for big prizes in the US of A and nowhere else cos it would actually take some time and effort. You can’t tell me that with most of the cars in Forza being European that the companies that actually build the cars would be adverse to a bit of advertising through sponsoring prizes for competitions that are available outside the states. But no we pay more for the game, the add ons and basically just about everything to do with Forza then get treated like a bunch of second class citizens but if we lived in Hillbillyville on Redneck Road just of Trailer Trash Avenue we would have competition’s with top prizes coming out the Wazoo it just doesn’t seem right or fair my god the last comp with a company name on it in the UK you got money of a pizza as a prize. Bit of a difference between that and a £300 collectible xbone or an actual real Mazda car which was the prize in the USA only comp before that so tell me is it fair I pay more for my games, my add ons and console and yet I get to sit back and watch the profits I helped produce being put back in to the franchise to the benefit of what seems like every gamer but me.

Laws are different in every country. Most likely T10 didn’t want to go through the hastle to give something out for free and I dont blame them, instead they stuck with the law they know Im guessing. In the long run its a waste of time and resources to do multiple regions.

Just as well gamers worldwide don’t have that attitude buying games for the xbone is a waste of their time and resources so lets all go buy a PS4 and for way to long we’ve had the same worn out excuses of they can’t do this and can’t do that because of local laws. Well speaking as someone from the UK who has researched this the laws concerning such competitions and sponsored promotions we have much less legal requirements than are the norm in most American states you can enter thousands of such so called sweepstakes and promotional competitions here every week so that argument falls flat on its face before it even starts. Microsoft\Turn10\Playground Games commercial arms inaction seems to suggest that because it would take some extra time and effort to treat gamers outside of America as equals it is something they just can’t be bothered to do plus it keeps American gamers from complaining about their prizes having to be shared worldwide. But seriously just because we love the franchise and continue to buy it by the millions worldwide is that any reason that we should be treated as the second class citizens of the gaming world so come on isn’t it time that someone stepped up and involved the major European car manufacturer’s who make up the bulk of the car list’s in Forza I’m sure they would like to have their name on such competitions and prizes. So far this year the only major actual involvement of Forza’s commercial arm in Europe was to have literally miles of banners surrounding the Le Mans road course so please is it to much hassle to give us gamers who live outside of the USA the chance to participate in the occasional high prize competitions we see continually available to our America brethren.

I just saw a Forza 6 themed Xbox One on the EB Games site but the only problems I see with buying that is I’ll be wasting $550 on a console for the paint on the outside vs buying a Forza 6 skin for $20. As well as losing my “Day One” console and so probably losing the benefits as well… If there were any anyway. The whole Day One console thing should have been far more of a showpiece but all we got was a generic looking Xbox One that looks like everyone else’s :o(. Plus the whole engine sound thing in the Forza 6 themed console when you turn it on seems rather tacky to me. What if for example you’re not even playing Forza but Soul Calibur X or something.

This has to be the worst use of paragraphing I have ever seen.

Do either of you know that people will not read a wall of text? Regardless of what you are going on about, whether it is correct or not, nobody is going to read it word for word, and be able to follow your selfish thought progression.

International laws do not allow Lottery, sweepstakes, or contests, to be held internationally without appeal to a board.

Each of the 50 states in the U.S. has different laws concerning gambling, and contests. There are federal charges required for income purposes, to be paid by the person who wins the contest. This is considered a lottery winning under Federal Taxation laws, meaning that the winner is responsible to pay taxes based on the VALUE of the prize.

Many businesses will hold contests, specifically to offset taxes of operation. Just because you can buy Rainbow Six Vegas at Gamestop for 99cents, does not mean, if you were given a copy from UBISOFT today for free, that its value is going to be in that realm. Assume that the price would be $60, of which you would be responsible to pay the government taxes, effectively $25.

So take this into account.

If the person that wins, does not have responsibility of payment, taxes are then required of the donor. Turn 10, nor Microsoft, is going to foot the bill on a contest to give away a console, and pay international taxes on it.

These contests are budgeted from the advertising campaign, and typically created by a third party service. If this third party makes wasteful decisions, or exceeds their budget, there is simply no way that ANYONE will get a console.

Well if you win something here there are no taxes payable on it.

Also to the OP it is not weird exchange rates that MS uses that explains relative price differences. It is a combination or tax rates applied in the consumers country plus other localised cost and other factors.

Now extra to cover taxes is a reasonable excuse if not for the reason that almost every major online company escape actually paying any business taxes in the UK by using loopholes in the taxation system now as a taxation practice you have to applaud the companies involved for saving their shareholders money whilst saving the companies billions of dollars. But don’t trot out the old worn taxation , higher cost excuses because all of these companies have offices in the UK AND THEY ALREADY DISTRIBUTE THEIR PRODUCTS TO THE UK so whilst there may be slightly higher costs to export. But wait a goddam minute they don’t produce the consoles in the US of A they are made in Singapore so they don’t have to export them in fact the UK is closer to where the consoles are produced so shouldn’t we be actually paying less. The same old excuse they continually roll out to explain the shameful treatment of gamers outside America are wearing thin and although they continue to make billions from us they should note that gamers are just up and leaving and more are now leaving than arriving and unless the companies take note now they will see even more moving to new technologies thus ultimately damaging the gaming market possibly fatally.
