Without carcroups rivals the trsiningghost is usrless

Because it makes no sense to practice against tuned class cars.

If you practice a early prototype it will be not shown in the leaderboard if you have set faster time with a faster p class car.

So it makes no sense. I must still set a free race without AI and have no choice what ghost I practice against.

That class leaderboards are nice but useless in my eyes. With this decision you are going backwards and a lot of people did not use rivals. The interesting thing was that you have race against of a group of cars instead a leaderboard car.

I would also like to see a “division” category in the leaderboards sort options. I certainly don’t think the class leaderboards are useless though, far from it.

I did not ask for this in my Class E-X rivals thread thinking that might be too much to ask for. I do miss, however, the sort option that included division.

Many people are unaware of this, but because of that option in FM6, we actually had leaderboards for every division in every class. It would be nice to see that come back in some way. Even in FM6 though, if you raced the same ribbon, in the same class, but with a different division and made a better time, your lap would be overwritten with the better time. I still think it may be too much to ask for proper leaderboards in each class, each ribbon, and each division, but I would love it if Turn10 could do that.

So, I vote for an additional sort parameter called division, like we had in FM6.

Completely agree with this. I have a club race for Forza Touring cars this weekend. So I booted up the new rivals mode hoping to try my luck against other Forza Touring cars. With a class based system, the touring car homolagation limit is well short of the class maximum and not competitive against cars tuned to max out the class, therefore, the tunes I need to run in the race aren’t suited for running time attack mode and I’d be running against stronger cars in other divisions that aren’t meant to compete against touring cars.

I think the point of the training ghost is there so people can learn to beat a particular time consistently, as opposed to beating it just the once. Because its one thing to beat said time once, its another thing to beat that same time over and over again. And as Forza Motorsport stood prior to yesterdays update, the ghost would vanish after it was beaten; so that just wasn’t possible without restarting while selecting a new ghost to beat. This new systems means people can aim for consistency before moving up the ladder onto even faster opponents. I know the “training ghost” option will be used a lot by myself, I think its one of the best things added in this update.

Ideally they shouldve put the leaderboard system from forza 6 in which included divisions(just not homolated) as well as the ghost mechanic from 4 where once you beat the ghost a new rival ghost would automatically show up, someone said this in another thread and triton actually responded and didnt seem to shoot down the possibility so we’ll see i guess.

I hope so. The player experience in Rivals is close to what we want as it only has two problems:

  1. Rival isnt replaced by another rival if you beat it. Apparently it never has in prior Forzas, but it seems odd that this hasnt been coded into the game yet
  2. Rivals is for classes not divisions, and there are a whole lot of other leaderboards in Free Play for divisions - but without the more useful ghosts. This seems a shot in the foot for Turn 10 as the leaderboards already exist for every division, so if Rivals used divisions instead of classes they could use same leaderboards and they would save a ton of database capacity. They could also use the more useful ghost functionality.

Exactly! The OP is about limiting the time attack to your division. It has nothing to do with the ghost feature.

If it has nothing to do with ghosts than whats the problem division leaderboards are still in freeplay. Im sure many people will still use them.

Then shouldn’t they be accessible in rivals?

I hear ya, theres a lot of things that shouldve been but at least theres still a leaderboard for them.

Not being a true top tier driver, leaderboards aren’t really what I’m looking for. I was hoping that time attack would support divisions as well. They should have redesigned the rival menu to let you pick either division or class.

I dunno why they do the things they do tbh, this isnt the first time things have been dealt with an axe instead of a scalpel so i cant say im suprised that this is like this. There could be a technical reason or its a lapse in thinking out the design. Its possible they might build upon it but i cant see too much time being spent on this, player count is probably extremely low at this point so theyre probably just boosting some features to appease veteran players so they come back as i dont see any of these changes driving new players to buy the game.

100% agree.
