Anyone know of a workaround to avoid updating to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update so that I can download the game? I’ve tried updating to the new update three times now and it never finishes. So I give up on that. Now looking for a workaround to download the game without having to update. Can it be done?

If it is failing via windows updates, have you tried forcing it with the upgrade assistant?

That’s what I have been using to attempt the update. It will download, start to install and get to about 75% or so and I’ll get the BSOD and it then restores my current version.
What is the stop error you get?
Download bluescreenview to review, also list the faulting module.
Uninstall your antivirus before upgrading.
I tried again today and same result. It just appears on screen for a second then the computer restarts so I can’t catch the error it gives. I’ll try out the program you posted, try updating again and it should give me more info. I’ll post it here. The only anti virus program I use is the Windows Security Essentials that you get with Windows. I’m not sure if that’s what’s causing the BSOD but I guess I’ll find out when I try to update again.
you dont need it to crash again to find out the error or the faulting module.
Just download the file above and run it. It will tell us all we need to know, unless your logging is funky.
