In all the other Forza games we got to know theit content after the initial presentation at E3. But this time we dont know anything about it. Might there be a Car in it that hasn’t been released yet or are there greater things in it which will be revealed later at Gamescom? (E.g. they having a contract with DTM for getting the 2017 Grid in the game). What do you think?
Cynical answer: it’s being held back because whatever the packs’ contents are, they aren’t that impressive and wouldn’t really provide much of a carrot for potential pre-orders.
Less cynical answer, and my hope: as you say: we’ve got a bunch of all-new cars and they would rather release them as part of the car list reveals.
That last one doesn’t make much sense, though. Either way, it’s odd.
Turn 10 & Microsoft have their reasons but they haven’t said anything yet (and won’t as they typically don’t “justify” their actions in public comments).
All we can do is to wait for an announcement.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend that anybody pre-order until they know what they’re getting, so that they can make a more informed purchasing decision. This game isn’t going to “run out of stock” so there’s no need to pay up immediately. Be sensible with your money and make the order at a time that you know you’ll be happy with whatever you get.
Simple answer, it’s how modern gaming works, some(well most) games hold back content as ‘pre-order bonuses’ hell Project Cars 2 has held back content too, but at least they have announced what is included in their day one DLC. There is no need to pre-order any game, especially digitally, because as PJ has said they don’t have a limited supply plus nine times out of ten the day one DLC gets released later on in the games life cycle.
He’s not asking why pre-order content is held back from the base game, he’s asking why the details of the pre-order and VIP packs aren’t up yet. I’ve been wondering that myself, frankly. Like geez guys, if you’re hurting for pre-orders, you might want to fill that information out. Just a thought.
Depends. Digitally? No, no problems. A physical copy though? I believe for FH3 pre-orders, both GAME and Amazon UK actually completely sold out of UE physical copies.
Ah yeah, I’ve been wondering that too but I’ve just been thinking it is the usual T10 radio silence stuff until Gamescom then they will release that info along with new gameplay footage which will then lead to a run up in the amount of info released(which in all honesty sucks as it is meaning Forza is losing people who want to buy the game because of the complete lack of new, regurgitated, information about the game unlike its competitors).
But that’s not really the case, though, if I remember correctly. Pretty sure we knew about what was in the PO/VIP packs for FM6 the day it was revealed, or maybe a week or so after. What’s going on this time 'round – especially considering what the competition’s doing – is really strange. I just can’t figure out what T10’s game is.
I can’t remember what it was like for FM6, but you are probably correct. I’m wondering if the much to do with Toyota has something to do with the lack of info about the preorder and VIP bonuses? Or a completely wild guess, they haven’t totally figured out which each pack will contain just yet.
That could be, but that’s a pretty big oversight. I have no idea what it takes to plan bonus content, but I wouldn’t say it would require months between reveal and launch to suss it out.
That’s true, it certainly is an interesting situation and makes me wonder how well the pre-orders for FM7 are going given how little information about anything in the game there is out there apart from the same sort of interviews from E3 and only 2 different track /car combinations have been shown so far.
Perhaps that’s why the “Pre-Order FM7” prompt came back to the top of the newswire on the homepage a couple of weeks back? Maybe it’s going slow.
Having said that, though, if they really wanted to generate more preorders, you’d have to think that actually TELLING potential buyers WHAT THEY’RE GETTING as PO bonuses would go a long way to generating more sales.
Not sure if it’s me paying less attention or if T10 are releasing less info but recently it feels like each year a new Forza gets unveiled, the less information and gameplay there is on the game in the initial two months after E3. No more 30min back room closed door sit downs with Dan and things of that nature. In fact I’m not sure I’ve seen that since FM4/FM5 (correct me if I’m wrong).
I think it’s just MS’s PR/release strategy. We’ll get something at Gamescom but they’re definitely keeping things very close to the chest this year.
I can’t wait to see people flip out when the Ultimate Edition of Forza 7 they pre-ordered introduces a second wave of DLC which wasn’t included in the package they purchased initially. It’s one thing to reach that far into a customer’s pockets, but it’s a whole other to turn them upside down and shake out whatever change they didn’t find in the first place.
For my part, as ever, I’ll be buying the good old fashioned, standard, vanilla game. It won’t be fun watching some of my friends playing a few days earlier, but if there’s one thing I’m not hurting for, it’s games I can play.
That’s usually my strategy and but Amazon had a great deal I couldn’t pass up. Not only is this my first Forza game other than Horizon 2 360 version that I will be getting on launch day but it’s the first that I will have the DLC from the start. Usually I wait for good sales and I’ve picked up most all my DLC pack and VIP purchases for like 75% off. The day one and VIP packs I consider gravy on top of the main game and I almost don’t really want to know what’s in them. That way it will be a surprise when I launch the game the first time.
I know things like expansions and maybe a car pack or two won’t be included but I believe I’m getting my money’s worth for the time I will put into FM7 and I can be happy with that.
Chances are they have metrics for how long before release people are most likely to drop a preorder, and they’ll announce the boni close to that point to raise awareness and drive moar preorders.
In Japan’s amazon, the notation that the Ultimate Edition includes The Fate of the Furious car pack is confirmed.
However, since this notation does not exist on other websites or is currently being deleted, it is not known whether it is included in the actual product.
I saw Fate of the Furious pack listed on a few sites back during E3. But they were all taken down because there was no official word on what the bonus car pack actually was.
I would expect some news about the Day one bonus car pack at Gamescom. I saw a few interviews from E3 saying that They had more info to reveal there.
If it was a Fate of the Furious pack, it’s possible it had a Supra and once Toyota pulled out they had to scramble to find a replacement. That would make sense as to why nothing has been announced yet.
