Title. Why have these stats been removed from the game again? They were in FM6:Apex and FH3…why is T10 not able to decide on what to keep and what to scrap I mean they binned the cart feature as well. Any reason as to why these 2 things are removed again?
Because T10 hates tuners. They would rather we all just hit the upgrade to next class button and have it auto pick parts, instead of do the upgrading for our selves. Actually I don’t think they mind tuners, but they are keeping it simple for the 95% of people that are buying this and will just auto upgrade without looking.
That said, I’m not sure how important the launch stat really was. I don’t know how accurate it was either. You can always quickly check and bring up the other stats and see the 0-60 and 0-100 time. That’ll definitely tell you how good the launch is. Also since most people do rolling start the launch has become less important. However for those of us that are really into drag racing it does matter somewhat, but testing will prove out what is a good launch or not. The displacement number was somewhat helpful depending on if you used a tuner app that required it or not.
I just like features and as much technical information as possible. I’D KILL for the PCARS 2 feature like boost pressure, ventillation amount, fuel level and all that stuff to be added to tuning as it could really allow you to tailor a car to each race rather than the “1 size fits all” thing of FM. I mean, Homologation in it self it kinda restrictive, I know they want tight races but only having 10% power to work with (in cases so far) feels a bit harsh. I hope not every single even only gives you like 25 PI to work with…I don’t wanna run 230706hp cars slammed to hell, just a bit more tuning and modding leeway in class. Off topic!
More info never hurt anyone so I don’t get why it was removed from Apex, when in Apex it was re-added because AFAIR it was a feature request from FM6.
Well you can filter by number of cylinders in Freeplay. Pity you cannot actually see the number of cylinders a car might have from anywhere within the game … /Sigh
I know I’m posting this information a little late, but if you go into forza vista and view the engine information they will list HP, Tq, as well as displacement on there. For anyone wondering if they will show you the bored out version of the motor, I can confirm this as it showed me boring out a 7.0 L to an 8.0…
Not true. Just tried this on a couple cars. All the “I” box does is give me different angles of the car. Says nothing. Shows no stats or anything.
For example I just tried the McLaren 12C completely stock. I go to Forza Vista. I go to the back of the car where the engine and the “I”(information) box is. I click on it. It shows me a dozen different angles with the spoiler going out and in. No stats are shown. Nothing is said.
This means if I want to know, I have to 1) go look online and 2) assume they have the exact version I looked up.
For example, the legacy gt came with a v6 with 250hp or a inline 4 turbo also with 250hp. So then you have to go see if a turbo is equipped to figure out which one is in the game. It just adds a bunch of useless steps.
Launch was a very weird stat and, in practice, not very important in the case of AWD cars. Most of them had a rating of 10 when powerful enough.
It’s more useful for RWD and FWD but you can use tuning to remedy many of the problems in the cars, so the stat doesn’t mean much, similar with top speed.
Displacement removed wasn’t a bad thing either IMO because some of the numbers they used in FH3 were really off… The Alfa GTA for example was never capable of hitting 2 liters, while there were variants (GTAm) with such large engines IRL. M3 E92 stroker can go up to 4.6L in reality but is capped to 4.5L in FH3. On the other hand, M3 E36 engine cannot get to 3.6L in reality, the max is 3.5L offered by Hartge in the 90s, the engine is undersquare and not much room for displacement increase.
There were few realistic numbers in the game, though, mostly for GM engines (you can make a 427 out of every LS3 car). Hondas were usually realistic as well but don’t quote me on that. Supra was realistic, it has a 3.2L upgrade.
So I prefer the numbers to be hidden so I can make my headcanon for what the upgrades stand for rather than looking at numbers that trigger my OCD.
I liked having all that information apart from the launch, that statistic used to effect PI and for something that would only matter once a race. Anyway I loved being able to sort cars out by max torque RPM, or front tyre size, or lining your garage up from lightest to heaviest and things like that.
