Why does every single car in the Car Pass have its own content licence?

Every week, I have to redownload the Car Pass from Microsoft Store to add the content licences for the two new cars. Doing so means that the Xbox will validate every single licence already installed from the Car Pass, making the download slow and annoying, more so each week.

If this is not done, the new cars will still be available in the game. However, if you were in one of them when you last played the game and you start the game again, you will be put into a different car. The missing file from the Car Pass will simply return an invalid licence mask for the content and make the game initially think you don’t own it, even if you are playing on your Home Xbox and/or you’re online (the cars will still be in your garage and available to select though).

Why doesn’t the Car Pass bundle all its cars into a single licence? Is this merely a means to keep them from being accidentally or nefariously unlocked ahead of time?

At least in previous titles where we had monthly Car Packs those packs were possible to install individually. You didn’t have to wait for the Xbox to reinstall the licence for every single Car Pass car released before, just the newly added ones.

Sorry to hear that you’re having issues. I am on XBox and have never once had anything at all like what you mention happen to me since launch.

There are quite a few people having issues like yours. Hopefully it gets sorted soon.

The cars usually unlock for me when season changes.

No amount of installing the car packs in any games in the series on the XBOne has allowed me to exit the game while in a DLC car and not come back to find myself in the first regular car I was given in the game.

The cars are individual for those people that buy them individually and not buying the car pass
