Like many of us drifters, I’ve been drifting for a while. The thing I still haven’t figured out is why we continue to argue about different drift types and how one is better than another. Please correct me if I’m wrong but we all:
-enjoy drifting
-use RWD, FWD, and/or AWD drivetrains
-and enjoy playing video games
If these things are true than why can’t we respect the different types of drifters and just have fun playing a video game.
Don’t misunderstand me. I know I am a points drifter and I use AWD. I have friends who prefer doing tandem lobbies, some who like to show off while drifting and others who enjoy speed drifting. None of us complain about the other’s drift style or how many points we get because we know that we are playing a video game, trying to have fun with other online players.
That being said, why do argue over drift styles when the only thing we are trying to do is have fun?
I don’t anticipate everyone agreeing with me, rather I want to hear ya’lls opinion. I just ask that when you respond, please be respectful of your fellow drifters.
No one complains about how Rob or Chris drive because they both have RWD cars. That’s just a fact.
I’ve been on the forums looking since 2008 then bothered to sign up in 2009 and there were no arguments of this type, purely because most, if not everyone used RWD so people got along. This was during Forza 2.
Forza 3 it seems a lot more people got a hold of the game and this is when more people started using AWD/FWD & RWD so there were all different kinds of groups and also points showed up which to me is rather pointless but that’s my opinion. Near the end of Forza 3 and the beginning of Forza 4 is when it seemed more people started to use the forum especially the Drift Lounge. One topic I had seen come up time and time again was ‘AWD drifter looking for people to tandem’ obviously there would be a little bit of negativity/rivalry between all three groups. But usually the first reply to one of these topics would be ‘The Drift Lounge is most made of RWD drifters so it will be hard to find people to tandem with’ which is absolutely correct, it was a simple answer just to tell people it may be difficult to find other AWD drifters to tandem with.
But usually it would just turn into an argument over something so little and eventually it will be locked. That’s the end of that.
When Forza 5 came out it seems to have got a little worse in my opinion a lot of points drifters came onto the forums (nothing wrong with that) but after looking at a lot of the topics that points drifter had made there was a reason why they were locked simply because half of them were just topics looking to start a war between tandem/points drifters, people were even banned because of it but they still came back trying to provoke. I would link you topics about the locking/banning but I would rather not.
Again in my opinion I think it was better when the Drift Lounge was predominantly just tandem drifters. But it’s the future now and new people are bound to join the forums which is good.
But I think this topic should just be closed because at some point someone will get upset with the subject.
As a non-drifter–except for Rivals drifting when I do a lap or two in some well balanced car, normally stock–I fully agree with the OP. It’s sad to see how there is such hostility between drifters, mainly because there seems to be a big divide between how “acceptable” FWD and AWD drifting is in the drifting community. Whether this is just a Forza phenomenon or a real issue in the real world community, I don’t know, but it seems quite ridiculous to me to be so hostile towards each other just because of which kind of drifter people are. I hope you can sort it out within the Forza drifting community, even though it seems to have improved (on the forum) since FM4, when it was really bad. Forza should be about having fun, and arguing over drifting preferences is a bit petty in my opinion.
You have to remember that the number of countries where the Xbox One is released will double inside a month from now. I’m sure there will be a lot more activity on the forum in September, including more drifters. But maybe I’m just assuming that e.g. Japan has a bunch of Forza drifters (and Forza artists who design drift designs). Either way, there should be a lot more activity on here in general, and a lot of people should see their shared designs/vinyls/tuning files get downloaded a lot more than they have in a while.
I understand that and it makes sense. That’s not the problem of why this community has went down the shredder. The main problem is kids with attitude problems. I know its a video game, but I feel like bad parenting is the key point we have to look at. I’m sure other parts of the forum looks at this and laugh. I would join right in to laugh as well.
Just wanted to make a quick apology on the profanity, won’t happen again. I agree with you guys though. I have been lurking the forums since Forza 4 came out, this is a 3rd account so this is the newer one. I can say that I have seen a lot of points drifters try to call out tandem drifters and what not. Doesn’t make much sense because they are 2 different styles. Just like playing a football game. The 2 teams have different styles and that is why one performs better than the other sometimes. We need to try and get a balanced view on this so everyone can enjoy the forums again. Just drift.
The arguing is pretty pointless really, most of the time it seems like those starting an argument are only looking for reaction.
Drifting is fun so keep it fun, initially I thought that positive camber cars on drag slicks looked just silly, but now I really don’t care what you drive or how you tune it, if you are a cool person to talk to and you enjoy getting your car sideways is all that matters to me.
I often play with tandem drifters, neg camber tuners, pos camber tuners, RWD drifters, AWD drifters, points drifters, JDMs drivers, American car drivers etc etc.
I’m 29 years old and nowadays the only thing that annoys me are people in Ariel Atoms bashing into you on purpose and little kids who scream on the mics and swear purely because they think it’s cool.
