Who felt it a good idea to put a toll road in the game.

Forced? Most certainly not. Turn 10 started work on the track well before any of us knew it’d be missing upon the game’s release.

Don’t think for one second they did all of this to recreate the 'Ring as the result of some silly forum “outcry”. They recreated it because of its historical - and ongoing - racing significance.

Seconded and with how long it takes to develop a track It wouldn’t be surprising if they started well before release of FM5

I guess I stand corrected. I tried to find a date of when they were at the track scanning it but couldn’t find anything. They did say it took 13000 man hours to create it which is a ton but I have no idea how many people worked on it.

Taking that into consideration its a pretty good marketing ploy to have people complain about a single track for 6 months then come out as a hero when you release it after everyone’s given up hope. If they told the community what they were working on and when to expect it I’m sure they would have just got more flak for releasing the game before it was finished.

I know this sounds pretty negative and I’m not trying to complain, I’m actually really happy we got a new track. I just want to know if you guys think the 13,000 hours it took to get Nurburgring was worth it or would you rather that time and effort be used on 5 other tracks.

I have no attachment to the Ring and while it may be historically important, I’m not looking forward to driving on it outside of rivals…

Sorry for the quote fest, I havent figured out the new forums yet. Of course all of the following is just my personal opinion but, to answer your question about 13,000 hours being worth it, yes, every second of it. Its stunning to look at, the detail is top notch. And it’s HUGE!! Maybe 13,000 hours was quick, I have no clue how long it takes to make a track. Don’t forget part of the 13k hours were spent on the GP track as well. I agree the ring will be tough to race on, I also agree it will be great for hot lapping, but we have the GP track!!! I’m thrilled they released the GP course as much as I am the Ring.

Yes haha

Yes absolutly. I bought the X One and the game because there was a rumor that the ring will be in the game in february. My X Box One has been collecting dust since a few months. Well the Nordschleife has revived it.

really glad the ring is back but cant understand all the hate towards the circuit cause its a cracking track. But guess you cant please all the people just glad they got round to releasing it many happy hours racing that track

There aren’t many REAL race-tracks around that have been in place for almost 90 years now and have seen trackside action from almost any motorized form of transportation on them in the existence of the track.

Regardless if nowadays it’s basically a gated community where any driver can cough up a few banknotes and drive themselves to smithereens, the Nordschleife is one of the few tracks that actually have done something, both for competitive motorsports and for consumer products.

Great! First we get people complaining that the Ring isn’t in the game and now that it is we have people complaining it is in the game. Can’t win!

For those who don’t like the ring, never mind.
There’s plenty of other stuff you can do.
I love the ring, after trying the 50 laps challenge during Forza 4 I have a great connection to the ring. Maybe some of you guys should try it?
The ring is a brilliant endurance track, and we can all agree there is a distinct lack of endurance events in Forza 5.
Just because you dont like a piece of content doesn’t mean others don’t.
The ring is probably the most requested of tracks, which is why it’s now in.
I’m sorry Turn 10 didn’t cater to you personally, but we all have our issues with the game, but complaining about stuff that IS IN the game is just plain silly.

Geez. Some people. The Nordschleife IS a real racing circuit TC. They have 24 hour endurance races there, just like at Le Mans, which, by the way, is also a “toll road” as you put it. And there’s the GP track on top.

Not to mention this is a fantastic rendition of the Nordschleife. Looks fantastic, has lots of bumps, narrow. And it’s free. How can you complain at something that’s free? Lots of us would have PAID for this quality.

You don’t need to pay the locals at LeMans to drive on the public road when there is no sanctioned race going on. Unsure now what you mean by “LeMans is also a toll road” though?

The difference is that parts of the LeMans Circuit de la Sarthe are in fact public roads, connected to the local road network and will only be closed if there’s a race going on (similar to the Monaco GP Track). The Nordschleife, while also being considered as public road, is still a permanent race track and not part of the public road network. The “toll” you pay on the Ring is the admission fee per lap that needs to be paid before entering the track in a private road car (about 20 Euros per lap)

My point exactly; LeMans is free to drive around roughly 350 days a year. Nordschleife and/or Nurburgring isn’t. I’ve driven both already in real life in my lifetime. Hence my question about the “toll road” in the same sentence as LeMans.

@Hyde

While its officially considered as a public toll-road its still a permanent race track. The “public road” designation is mostly because of how german road safety laws are being applied.

And yes, there aren’t many races held on the green hell nowadays, but its still used on a daily basis by all major car manufacturers as a test-track for car development, especially in the final stages of the development cycle. Heck, most car manufacturers even have permanent garage and R&D buildings around the track. You could easily say that about 2/3 of all the cars you drive in Forza had to prove themselves on the Ring before they got released to the public, and most out-of-factory suspension settings have been defined by testing on this track.

While the constant hunt for the lap record is more of a PR stunt by the manufacturers, the influence the track has on road car developments is enormous and shouldn’t be ignored.

I agree that the Nordschleife is not for public MP hoppers, and it can be a real pain to cleanly overtake someone during a race, but for me its a blast in Rivals and i love the fact that there are so many opportunities to screw up your lap. It makes it even more rewarding to log a quick, clean lap on this monster.

People have different opinions about the track, that’s OK. But denying its importance to the history of motorsport and car development and questioning its existence in a race game that covers the whole range of automotive aspects is just blatantly ignorant IMHO.

Very well put… thumbs up!

For the OP:
This track is a true test of a drivers skill and mettle. A real drivers track. Maybe you just doesnt like driving?

After driving around 25 laps last night I can honestly say that this is, hands down, the best rendition of the Ring that I have ever seen. Turn 10 has certainly outdone themselves with this version.

Personally its always been my favorite track in the series. Why? because I like to actually drive. With over 147 turns this track tests you in more ways than you can count.

The racing is intense and strategy plays a huge role. You cant just pass anywhere you please. You really have to set your spots to pass in advance or wait for the person in front of you to make a mistake. Which doesnt take too long in most races. Sorry its not like the Alps where people can wall ride to death… or Yas where you can cut every corner. Sorry that the track is thin and makes passing an actual challenge. Actually Im not sorry at all… cause I love it! Sorry you dont

But to say this track is irrelevant and not REAL is just not accurate at all. As Woozie here pointed out its used for testing of countless cars by the manufacturers; The 24 hour race is legendary; its one of the most famous tracks of all time. 13000 man hours couldnt have been better spent. The attention to detail and the difference between forza 4’s version and this is HUGE!

Not to mention they gave us 3 ribbons! FREE!!! Im not trying to change the OPs mind… dont like the ring fine… but there are far too many that do to come on here and berate the track and Turn 10 for putting it in the game.

Ive said this for years and Ill say it again and I dont care if I’m wrong or right: If you dont like the Ring you dont like to drive!

Long live the Ring!!

Personally I enjoy racing the Ring. I know not everybody will and I’m ok with that. Not going to try to sway anyone’s opinions about it. I enjoy the vast majority of the tracks in the game and if I don’t I just don’t race on them, simple as that. I’m more curious as to why some vehicles were put into the Forza series repeatedly rather than Track choices.

Who felt it was a good idea to put what you call a “toll road” in the game? I don’t know, perhaps someone who can appreciate its significance for motorsports.

Call Tilke, we may have found someone who may like his tracks!

I’m not a great fan of this track but its great to have more free tracks in the game, I’m happy
as far as hdd space is concerned i don’t mind the update now i have my new 4tb external storage :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
