Which game?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this (mods please move), but I have played all the Motorsports games up til, 6. I’m looking for a change. I like driving different cars and will be playing offline. I am looking for a change and from playing the demos, Horizon seems like the same racing just a little more fun. Which game should I start with? Obviously 4 is newest, but 3 is a lot cheaper. Is there that much of a difference in the 2 or is there a need to start at the earlier games? Thanks for any help!

I’d say start with Forza Horizon 3, as that one has practically everything with it already and could possibly give you a taste of the series. However, Forza Horizon 4 is a little more different as everything that was basically made for offline playing in Forza Horizon 3 requires you to play online in Forza Horizon 4 to either complete or earn. They might be announcing the second expansion for Forza Horizon 4 by next Tuesday, but I’m not totally sure yet. If you get the Ultimate edition of FH3, it comes with I believe a car pass that let’s you get all of the included car packs with the game for one price, and a VIP membership that offers double credits with every wheelspin. I don’t remember if it comes with the expansions included though, but if it doesn’t, you can get the Expansion pass for around $10. Forza horizon 4 however comes with a car pass, the “Best of Bond” car pack, “Formula Drift” car pack, it includes both Expansions, and it has a VIP membership that doubles all racing credits earned after each event! I’ll let you pick, but if it wasn’t for FH3, I would’ve probably never tried FH4. I hope I was a little helpful.

FH3 is actually better than FH4 in a lot of ways, and I would recommend you start there. There’s no real story to speak of in either game so it doesn’t really matter what order you play them in.

Forza Horizon 4 is the best overall single player experience, I’d say (unless you don’t care as much about the graphics and openness of the world, in which case FH1 might be a better starting point). Don’t they have demos to try for free, though? Barring that, FH4 might have the cheaper entry point with a month sub to the Game Pass, especially if there’s still a free trial available.

I would also suggest to get a cheap “Game Pass” subscription and test Horizon 4 this way instead of purchasing either Horizon 3 or 4. You can try out if the open-world more arcadey approach fits your liking.
If you plan to play completely offline Horizon 3 will definitely be the better choice. It also offers more depth than Horizon 4.

Id say start with fh3 and stay with it and wait for another horizon.
Overall fh3 is a lot better game i think, content is unlocked and no stupid forced seasons.

Buy FH3 and get the game pass to play FH4. I loved FH3, but FH4 is better.

FH3 is better than FH4 unless they fix the bugs in FH4.

Buy Horizon 3 and its DLCs since it’s going to reach it’s “End of life”… meaning : the DLCs will be removed from the Microsoft Store making them unavailble forever. I missed those on Horizon 1 and 2.

But nothing stops you from buying Horizon (X360 game) and Horizon 2 (If you are on Xbox One, of course).

All Horizon were great, but I feel like the first one has a better “Being in a Festival” feeling than the last ones.

I’d try the demos personally; that’s what I did and fell in love with Forza Horizon ( I play on pc) bought the ultimate edition of Forza Horizon 4 and have played it since the end of September. I now own all of the Forza’s available on PC because of it.

Another reason to get FH3 first is because you might become a vinyl designer, and you can share the vinyl from FH3 to FH4 but you can’t share backwards, so it’s best to go FH3 then FH4.
