Where is the hype for this game? Back when horizon was coming that’s all i heard for months. Constantly seeing things about it. With 2 there has been almost nothing. Not even gameplay trailers, You would think with countless games coming in the next few months they would be shoving down our throats.
Horizon was a first for the Forza franchise, the first open world game based around the Forza physics model was something quite hype worthy. With with this new game being the second entry there are expectations to be met, and alot of people just want to keep their jets cooled lately.
You’re soaking in it right now.
There are E3 Demo footage videos out there, but for the most part, this time around, Turn 10 seems to be building the anticipation with small teasers. It’s keeping me eager for more…
Gamescom.
Is it just me, or is Forza Horizon 2 the most under advertised game of the year?
I was at a couple Dimples locations and they had no Forza Horizon 2 advertising and didn’t even have it on their list of New Release titles for this month for the Xbox One. I’ve pre-ordered the game at Gamestop (USA) and when I was in their store yesterday paying it off they also didn’t have any posters or advertising, in fact they didn’t even have any of the fake pre-order game cases they have for other games. It wasn’t on their pre-order wall, or on their New Release list either unless you go through their page-by-page list of announced titles.
What gives? I’m a huge follower of the game and fairly active here so I know what’s up but it seems that, at least here, all of my local retailers are looking pretty left out. I know there have been a lot of conventions, demos, and news that have all been posted on the news page, and all over youtube, but what is with the lack of advertising?
The game is set to release in less than three weeks, and I still get the “What’s that? Haven’t heard of it.” response when I tell people about Horizon 2.
the forza H2 dont need any advertising the game was advertise by us the gamers of Horizon before they even started to make the game gamers keep asking when H2 was coming
also on youtube the had talk about this game for a long time the way Turn 10 looks at it is why pay for advertise when we did it for them they did try to keep the game quiet
it will sell when it comes out advertising for Horizon 1 started when the game was out.
Car reveals, news from game shows, Forza Fuel. I’ve seen plenty of promo material. Maybe you’re looking in the wrong places. The news section here has led me to plenty of information.
Certain other publishers have sent the hype machines into overdrive, Watch_Dogs anyone? Maybe they are consciously trying to avoid that path.
There is really no need for the amount of hype games are getting lately, as it only ever leads to disappoinment and feeling deflated. The games can never live up to the hype, so game like Watch_Dogs, look bad by comparison to their Pr hype trains. Watch_Dogs is a pretty good looking game, but it looks nowhere near as good as we were led to believe, which causes backlash.
Turn 10/Microsoft/Playground are probably hoping to avoid that by not going overboard. They have promoted Horizon plenty from what i’ve seen. They’ve just not gone to ridiculous levels like activision or EA are wont to do.
It’s not under advertised, everything else is over advertised.
That’s not promotion. The only people reading those articles are people who already know about the game.
Yes, but the point ya’ll are missing is that most of that stuff is from real world exposure. The news from game shows, is because they were at those game shows. The car reveals are being reported on most gaming sites. As for Forza fuel, they have 8 youtubers who will be promoting the event through their own channels and thereby spreading exposure to their fanbases who might not otherwise be interested in Forza, but may as a result pick it up.
As i said, they are not falling into the Acti-Ubi-EA hype train. They are not building the game up into something it isn’t, unlike those other publishers. This is something which should be applauded, not derided. [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. I’d rather this approach than them spamming loads of stuff that turns out to not be true, as others have done repeatedly. This is why i’m NOT pre-ordering Ass Creed Unity, The Crew, Cod Advanced Warfare, Battlefield Hardline, Haven’t even picked up Destiny, my friend finished the story in 10 hours and is now wondering what to do next. Hardly the massive experience we were led to believe. Might be good, but games keep being released and finished up to year after release. That is ridiculous. Finish the game, and then release it. Release in a state you showed it to us, not with loads of stuff removed or disabled.
Forza Horizon 2 is doing none of that questionable stuff, which is a good thing, NOT a bad thing. The Forza franchise is leading a change i hope others follow. That would be better for us as gamers and them as developers. I actually can’t fault their approach as it’s played out. I too was skeptical at first, but for me, they’ve run this quite well balanced, without most of the PR crap that comes along with game marketing.
We have some really cool stuff, including #FORZAFUEL, this Friday’s event at Playground, plus another round of previews coming out v.soon.
The storm is brewing!
It should be noted that Helios likes to refer to his tea as ‘the storm’, he’s not actually referring to inclement weather of any sort.
How do you know another round of previews is coming? Will there also be previews for the 360 version?
Look at the guys game tag, it should give you a hint
you know who helios is right?
It should be noted as well that racing/driving games are fairly niche market despite attempts to appeal outside that limited group. Advertising a racing/driving game at the same level a big-budget, AAA first person shooter is advertised is a colossal waste of resources. The game is doing fine and will do very well and in the end sales will certainly not be hurt in any way by a perceived lack of early advertising.

The promotion so far has been terrific… ( i stay away from car reveals and car counts - just going in with open mind no expectations and I have a good idea having played the original for almost a year off and on.) The game play vids and interviews of playground developers… it was enough for me to go all in. (Pre order bought and paid for, just waiting for the 30th and the 16th for the demo)
I thought he was referring to his post curry trip to the lavatory… lol
