Kk ill get both of them soon as I get the chance

I remember the days when everyone would turn around at the starting line and tandem together. It was a unwritten rule that everyone respected and points drifting was looked down upon but now the majority of people prefer points drifting as apposed to tandem drifting. Our only hope is if Turn 10 finally decides to return the option of custom lobbies.

I would like to know where everyone is getting these made up statistics of how many people points drift vs tandem drift, or who uses AWD vs RWD…

You guys are pulling numbers from nowhere and claiming this % of the community does this and this % does that. All the drifters I know are tandem drifters and we filled a private tandem lobby the other night. The photos above prove that. Just because a small percentage of drifters post on the forum doesn’t mean they speak for the whole community. There are plenty of players that don’t even know about this site or the forums. I have many mates who love and play Forza and they have never been on this site.

Hey guys, I set up this post to encourage a healthy debate about the general etiquette in Forza, and hopefully spur people on to consider their fellow drifters, and I’m glad to see that people are at least beginning to consider others or debate what that actually constitutes in this post. Whether you’re a points drifter in public lobbies, or a tandem drifter in private lobbies, all I wanted to do through posting this, was to get people to drift within their means and make sure that every session they join is as enjoyable as possible for all involved.

2 months on from when I originally posted this, I have now got a good group of friends on FM6 who I regularly tandem with, and the initial problem that I had of having barely anyone to tandem with has gone. I’ve changed my GT to ‘Yurei of Death’, so add me if you want to tandem any time. I personally don’t look down on points drifters, I just had bad experiences in points lobbies and the general outcome was someone crossing the line early (before FM changed them to timed lobbies) or people just driving recklessly. If you enjoy points lobbies, go ahead, but just consider other drifters, keep your distance (as some people are there solely for the points and might not appreciate you trying to get on their door) and have fun, making sure everyone else can too.

Come tandem with me sometime!

Yurei of Death

Regardless, I’m down to drift with any of you, so long as no one judges another persons playability, ability, or opinions. We play the same game, with different intentions. We can accomplish more as one

This thread is out of control…

They need to bring back user created lobbies. I used to spend hours in user created tandem lobbies. Drifting in public points lobbies wasn’t even that bad in fm4. Fm5 drifting was awful. When I saw user created lobbies weren’t coming back in fm6 I didn’t even bother buying the game. I can’t figure out why they won’t put it back in the game. It’s not hurting anything it would actually boost their sales. :frowning:

I guess they did the math and realized they could gain more from not adding those features. Slightly less sales, but much more money saved in development. And not that many people own xbones vs how many people had 360s when FM4 came out. But who knows for sure besides T10.

Note: this thread was set out to ask the question of “Where has the drift etiquette gone” not to continue throwing wood into the already burning fire that is the argument between points and tandem, which clearly is stupid as everyone should be allowed to enjoy whatever it is that they want to enjoy. The ‘main’ thing that I think Yurei of Death was trying to get at when he start this thread was that no matter where you drift points or tandem, AWD or RWD, just have respect for everyone else on the track as at the end of the day, their there to enjoy it, not to have someone ruin what their passionate about.

So true. I didn’t set this up as a thread for Points Bashing. I, like most of us I’m sure, started off points drifting before turning to tandems. I respect the points drifters that respect other drifters. Like it’s been said earlier in the thread, each discipline requires skill, just different types of skill. I didn’t and won’t ever say that I hate points drifters or points drifting because I don’t. If you’d like to refer to my initial post, my main issue was the small minority of people that crossed the line or just drove recklessly.

If you get your enjoyment from drifting for points, then good on you. At least you are drifting. If you, like me, get your enjoyment from getting as close to the door of the person or people you’re tandeming with, then good on you also. At the risk of sounding profound about a game, we are all basically doing the same thing, getting sideways and getting enjoyment from it. Its the same as the argument skateboarders have. Some like flatground, others like street, others like park, but what unites them all is that they all skate, and what unites us, regardless of the different ways we drift, is that we do drift.

So yeah, again, feel free to add me if you’re into tandems. If not, feel free to enjoy the points lobbies, but please read through this thread, consider your fellow drifters and most of all, have fun.

Well said.

This thread has lost it’s purpose and needs to be locked.

One other thing I’d like to point out that I’ve noticed over the last few years in Forza, or at least in Forza 4. I personally am a points drifter, but honestly I don’t really care about the points, I just like drifting and happen to get a ton of points(reward I guess for putting in the time to learn to tune and drift). I don’t mind once in a while when a tandem drifter tags along behind me(I prefer experienced tandem drifters though because they pay attention). What really ticks me off though is when I’m just not in the mood to have someone tapping my doors and bumper in every turn and I pull over to let them by and they just won’t leave me alone. I do every thing I can nicely to get them to leave me alone, but they just won’t leave me alone… I pull off to let them go by, I turn around and go way back and as a last resort I drive off the side of the track in 1st gear hoping they’ll get the idea that I don’t want to tandem with them. I don’t want to get DNF’d, so I wait until the race is over to send them a message that I don’t want to tandem with them. More often than not the reply back is usually rude as all hell and I get put up for Kick. And then there’s slightly mentally challenged tandem drifters… I’m in a barely Class A Mazda Familia with maybe 300hp and they’re in some R2 pumping 1000+hp that just can’t help themselves and want to tandem on my slower than a dead turtle butt… Can you guess the outcome of this scenario? By the end of the first lap I’ve taken so much Skyline up my hind end that even I feel uncomfortable sitting in my chair. And of course the other player just doesn’t get it at all, even though there’s other cars on the track that would be far better suited to tandem on, just keeps on trying to tandem on me until there’s just no rear end left on my car.

It’s hard to remain humble when someone is forcing their ideals upon you to the point that you are no longer enjoying the game yourself. I do everything I can to avoid causing other players any grief at all.

I’m not saying all Tandem drifters are like this. There are many who have msg’d me in advance asking to tandem. I’ll reply with either no or you can tandem on me, but that I am not a tandem guy myself, just so they know what to expect when they do tandem on me. There are those that when I pull off to the side to let them by, they get the idea and move on to someone else. But when I get stalked and tandem raped, it just leaves me with a bitter taste for tandem drifting.

But I can’t totally blame players for all of this. Turn 10 could have made a public lobby for tandem too. Given the popularity of tandem, it would have been given in my mind and I’m not a tandem guy.

Then there’s the Touge players… I’ve found them to be the most inconsiderate of all players in the game. They will fly through the track in a maxed out car, maybe 10 or 20k per lap and just cross the line. If you msg them nicely pointing out that it would be nice if you waited a the line for everyone else, the response always the same, rude, inconsiderate, self-centered and usually filled with colorful words degrading you, your sister and or your mom. These days I don’t bother msg’ing them, I just jump in my Lotus Elise and out drift them at their speed, many times going faster than they are too all the while getting 3 times more points per lap then they are.

Maybe it’s just me. I’m old, maybe I don’t see things like I should because I’m old. Sorry if anything I say here offends anyone, not my intention.

Oh man. This is bringing back memories of Forza 4.

People in AWD Ferraris with race tires, going 120 mph downhill on Fujimi Kaido Stage B Reverse, and DNF’ing the entire lobby without a shred of remorse never failed to be sickeningly funny. Especially when said lobby never kicked the culprit, and instead proceeded to yell at the tops of their lungs over game chat about people finishing early. And if you thought those drift lobby touge guys were bad, I bet you never tried out any p2p custom public lobbies. Those kids were always pretty high-strung, and practically cultists. If your Trueno was a grip tune, you were essentially kicking yourself from the lobby. But, by far, my favorite part of FM4 will always be the points club/leaderboard politics that led to untold amounts of shenanigans.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”

… Brought a tear to my eye …

Now I must stare off into the distance and ponder these words, nay, ponder life as we know it.

Agreed. By the way I believe PTG Curtis and I were just miscommunicating. We’ve been sharing back and forth with some tune ideas etc. He even helped me where on FM6 I was spinning, and the cause. Both points and tandem can get along and benefit from eachother. Geezer I’m with you on tandem drifters in public lobbies. I don’t mind those that are experienced. If I’m in a tandem lobby who cares right? It’s helping eachother out to make the experience more enjoyable for all.

Just get along already this is the problem with the community haha.

I do both points and tandem there’s a lack of knowledge more then anything new players have started to play forza. Make it your duty as experienced Forza Players to maybe send a nice message about these ‘rules’ that us as a community made in the first place.

Played the game 10 years things change we are the only ones that can make it better stop fighting about silly little things. Yes my profile says 08 lol it’s called a new account just saying haha

add me for tandems i only have an s13 as i got the game today, x fm4 tandem lobby player

With the release of fm3 we were all introduced to the points system and the lack of user created lobbies being accessible unless you had someone on your friends list. The game seemed rather successful as for not having user created lobbies available for all. Back then the lack of driver etiquette was now clear due to this new points system. Nobody wants to loose duh, but at least you need etiquette to not pull out Iin front of someone. Fm4 had user created lobbies and was very easy to kick these people.
Now here we are in fm6 and once again the user created lobbies are no more. We also have 24 person lobbies in these public lobbies with a very low percentage of points drifters with any car control. The General forza public lacks skill and seems to just get upset and bring out a open wheel car to hit you. These are the people to avoid. Small public lobbies are fantastic and generally very fun.
The community on the forum seems to be dying. But I see a large online community with plenty of private lobbies available. These last few days for example I have experienced large private lobbies full of old and new faces creating a great game experience.
I suggest finding some friends either from on here or even finding them in public lobbies. There’s plenty of skill mixed in with the completely unskilled. When you find someone skilled send them a fr or pm and make a friend. Eventually you’ll find there are plenty of private lobbies full of door on door action.
Feel free to add me
