Where can I get brakes like the AI???

No matter what I do, how good setup the car has, no matter if i mash the brakes using ABS, or if I brake properly modulating the brakes the AI seem to be able to brake at least four times as late as me.
What’s up with that?

better racing line possibly? also as far as I’ve noticed, not using abs actually lets me brake later, as long as I don’t mash on them, as you shouldn’t. haven’t used any assists except braking line since the first few days I picked the series up with 4

That was why I mention that it doesn’t matter if I brake propberly not holding the brake trigger without ABS, or if I hold it in with ABS.
The AI just flies by me :(.

So the AI brakes later than you AND makes the corner just fine?

The AI in my game brakes earlier than I do.

gearing.

My brakes are tons better than AI, even in stock form. The engines however are a different story at times. When I was on the Modern Sports Car series in Career mode I used both the ZL1 and the 13 GT500. Both cars in stock trim are pretty much maxed for the class yet in races AI ZL1s and GT500s would constantly pass me on decent straights. This wasn’t a gearing issue, the cars simply had more power which shouldn’t have been possible, especially in the GT500

has what to do with braking?

they may have been more HP per pound, had a better power to weight ratio giving them better acceleration. they also may have had less aero. buy the forza aero packages then you can reduce the aero on your car making it faster on the straight and usually reducing the pi number in the process letting you put a wider tire on the rear to help prevent overstear. yes you are going to be a little slower thru the corner but as long as you hold it on line they’ll be just as slow as you unless they go off line . and after the corners come the straight where you have the advantage and holding the line is not nearly as important. you can go off line on the straight to pass without losing a ton of speed.

thats also why you want to choose the car with a low pi, so you can add upgrades and tune them to fit your driving style, so you can make you car a custom fit rather than having to change your driving instincts. its easier and faster to adjust the car to you rather than adjusting you to the car.

the cars tire compound, weight, balancing, racing line, bias, aero, etc…all have something to do with it. many people can beat it on unbeatable, you cant do that braking 4X as long. perhaps you are just braking too early. tires have a limited amount of energy they can transfer to/from the track. that energy can be used to speed the car up, slow the car down, or keep it from sliding sideways in a turn without losing traction.brake going into the turn, coast thru the 1st part of the turn so you can use max energy to prevent sliding, and accelerate out of the turn. the trick is to use up as much of the tires available energy as you can without exceeding it. and you should never see tire smoke, you pushed the tire too far and raised the temp too much, you reduced the energy available so you cant accelerate as much out of the corner without spinning the tire. and never use the brake and gas at the same time, depending on the math used it may noting be canceling out each other but may be combining to use as much of you avalible energy as possible. stay as smooth thru the corner as you can. adjustments take tire energy too. twitchy is slow.

Gear down while braking.
This can take some practice but the engine will provide resistance. Try to keep the car balanced when braking. As expected, I noticed that my car will lunge forward when the clutch is engaged. Each driver has a preference, some brake only when the car is traveling in a linear fashion while some brake when turning.
Go to a straight section of track and select a landmark or line on the road. Travel at a consistent speed and use the landmark you selected to test your braking. I am not sure if it works in FM5 but in FM4 I would slam on the brakes for my first test which would leave a layer of rubber. I would then use this as a benchmark.
Other cars both ahead and behind can change your braking distance too.

good luck!

I’m actually playing the Modern Sports Car series with my GTR with AI at unbeatable.
Not all corners are equaly bad, but to give you and example; On Sebring on the straight after the twisty bit that leads to the sharp right(not the last straight) the AI in their GT500 and ZL1’s brake halfway between the little mobil1 bridge and the corner whilst I need to start braking at the bridge, I also shift down whilst breaking so I use both engine braking and brakes, but maybe the AI’s breaks are truly UNBEATABLE :).

You are doing something bad wrong. The AI BRAKES (not breaks) earlier than it needs to unless it crashes.

Yup, the AI has always braked earlier and lighter than me… try one of worm’s tunes to test it out… but remember… straight line brake as much as possible except in F1 cars. Normal cars do not have the downforce to maintain trail-braking very well and must just end in loss of grip. Turn on braking lines also and brake just after you cross the red arrows hard and fast, I found increasing brake pressure to about 120% helps make this easier (quicker reaction from the brakes) but you have to be careful not to hit it too hard or you’ll just go sliding off the track lol.

Ha ha ha. Speaking of AI brakes. I was running down the Mulsanne straight on unbeatable. I am behind an F430 and I know who’s driveatar (gamertag) it was but he slammed on the brakes with no other car around or corner. I mean seriously in to top speeds down the Mulsanne. Now the real owner of this driveatar is a top LB driver, and I know he does not brake down a straight.

Sorry I just had to share this little story. I even saved the replay. Too funny.

I know what you mean but generally it’s the exception not the rule. I play’ed career mostly on unbeatable and won most of the races but there were times where the AI defied physics just to get past me, either braking or accelerating. I’ve seen them be off track, in the dirt/grass/sand and out accelerate me on a strait to get in front. and drive around me in a turn where I"m perfect. If it’s happening to you all the time get a new tune and turn off assists. If it’s just a few times put 'em in the wall and keep driving.

What brakes…I late brake long after the computer and am able to make the corner…but they tend to not use the brakes very often and use my car to stop them…but real question…auto or manual tranny? Which do you use…with a manual you can stop way faster

I agree the AI brakes much sooner than I and that causes more of an issue than them braking later.

i race all races on unbeatable some ai cars brake later some earlier depending on the drivatar I have learned not to mash the brake trigger but to either pump or ease in to your braking zone while downshifting at the correct rpm

While I am no where near as talented as most here- I would humbly offer this advice- Don’t worry about what the AI is doing- Instead concentrate on your brake points and how smoothly you can get through a turn. To me I feel I have done a good job- if I enter smoothly, there is no tire noise, the car maintains a nice level speed almost like coasting and then when appropriate I can get back on full power with no drama.

At first it almost seemed like I was going too slow and not doing it right but I noted my times dropped considerably. Smooth is good. In short pay attention to your job on the track and let the AI does whatever it wants if you are doing things right it should have zero bearing on you. Unless of course you are ramming in to them.
