It’s been a while now, and the two most prominent features that are missing for league racing are the distances between drivers (listed in that table at the top left) and also the lobby points no longer existing, making grids really awkward to do (we have to run a rolling start, we want standing starts back). Speaking of the distances, that also showed where people were around you in the race, which was a great feature.
Seriously, I love the racing on this game, driving the cars is great and our series is quite good, it’s just it is kind of getting old having to manually set up the grids. It’s weird how this game got the hard stuff really right, but a lot of the ‘easy’ stuff is missing. Very odd.
^^^Very well said, they blew the easy stuff. Also get the fastest lap and last lap times to STAY on the HUD, not just pop up when you cross the start/finish.
I think that Sony has had Microsoft, and by extension, Forza, on the ropes since Microsofts Cloud PR nightmare pre console release, and they keep swinging…Im looking at you Morpheus and your support for Project Cars… Consequently, when one is scrambling, things get cut, pushed back, and overlooked… Im sure the forza guys are hard at work, but the past few months remind me of the expression; running to stand still. Here is to hoping they catch up…
A very fair complaint. I’m surprised you didn’t bundle end-of-race results into the thread. This definitely is an omission that is extremely puzzling - giving the nature of the title’s genre. I suspect we won’t see any of these things return in Forza Motorsport 5, but it darn should for the sixth. Perhaps this is one of those things that demands an email to forzafb@microsoft.com en masse to get the point across. Don’t expect a reply, but my impression is that the emails do get read and considerations made accordingly.
Here at virtual motorsports we still do standing starts on our FM5 Series. We run a formation lap and literally form up on the grid (most tracks do have this) in quali order and pick a start time on the big race timer and then start. This is a very realistic way of starting a race and, to be honest is more fun than Forza 4. Manual clutch drivers have to sit on the grid with their clutches held in, build there revs and release the clutch to start. Realistic and exciting.
I just watched the “Forza History” video on the last Forza Motorsport Week in Review and was shocked to see how much more valuable informations were available to racers on the previous games. I’m new to the franchise, the last motorsport game I played was Need for Speed (yes, the very first in 1995) and T10 convinced me to come back with FM5.
I’m glad they did as I always loved simulations - I flew several thousands hours on Falcon4. The drawback is the lack of update of the game itself. I was hoping for weather simulation, day and night cycle, more info while racing, lobbies with realistic damages, etc. … Instead we have a good amount of DLCs, wich is great when you have already fixed the game. I knew that I had little chance to see my wishlist fullfiled before the next episode in the franchise.
This was before I discovered “Project Cars” just two weeks ago. Unlike many of you, I do not have memories nor any loyalty towards the Forza franchise. I still enjoy the game today and race mostly on private lobbies but I have the feeling that I will quit the game as soon as Project Cars is released. What is embarrassing is the fact that most of the players racing with me, and playing since the first Forza, are about to leave the game too.
I sincerely hope that T10 is working hard to add some core functionalities to the game. This game and this franchise deserve something better that a vanishing die hard community,
Maybe its not something to do with T10 and more to do with the Xbox One and relaying information from player to player? I personally would PAY to get the distance meter, time splits from player infront/behind and lobby points. I usually end up racing against my own times…and even those you get to see for 5 seconds after passing the start finish and BANG…GONE! Weird.
It is a shame that things that have been addressed like the currency, which in my opinion is now a joke as I know plenty of people sat with MILLIONS and nothing to do with it, just because little Johnny who played Forza 3 times and could not get a Lotus F1 car, kicked up a fuss and got given one! I bet most of those complainers do not even play Forza now!!! I wont even comment on the free DLC cars as im pretty peeved off about that.
Yet the poll in the old forum that was pages and pages long with a huge majority vote appeared to be ignored. Even a “Sorry guys, we can’t do that now because X, Y and Z”. We have had all the reasons why we cant have night/day and weather etc…but please…can we have the TINY little fundamentals that have been in all the other Forza titles.
