What's the progress?

So it’s been about 6 weeks since it’s release. I understand 2 months is probably a better time to ask this.

How’s the development process going?
We’ve had many updates and bug fixes which is awesome.
I haven’t heard much, if anything from T10 since the release and I was just wondering if there was an update we could get from them regarding what stage of the process they are in or what’s on the horizon (not the game) for Apex and FM on pc.

I’m not the best at keeping up to date with gaming news so maybe I’ve just missed something and can be filled in.

Thanks.

Everyone is waiting for news regarding new cars and tracks and hopefully more weekly events. I really want a f1 car like we had in forza 5

I would ask this question about adding support for wheels. I don’t touch this game since its release because of this and my g27 is covered in dust, lol.

I hope I’m wrong here but as time goes by I can’t help but get the feeling we aren’t going to see anymore content or it’s going to be a very long time before we do. It feels like now we are beta testing the game engine for FH3 and with ~90 days til release it’s crunch time. There’s still quite a few things like wheel support to implement and a laundry list of engine level bugs to iron out.

On top of that you have a 3rd party involved in Playground Games and I don’t think they’d be exactly thrilled if T10 decided to drop Motorsport’s PC release +/- 3months of Horizon 3’s PC release.

Regarding wheel support, it was said in a podcast with ‘The Smoking Tire’ that wheel support is on its way. Greenwalt says it’s an issue with DX12 that’s causing a delay. Them wanting to write the code so it can be adopted by other devs (call it ‘smoke and mirrors’ if you want, I wouldn’t be against you).
If, what Greenwalt says is true then wheel support HAS to be implemented before FH3 is released. Or in conjuction with its release which I also wouldn’t be surprised at, the way some things are marketed or hyped.

I agree with you Jacks we are kinda just beta testing the engine on W10 for T10 and playground so they can produce more games on it.

I also agree there are a lot of people who are questioning the optimisation of the engine, me included, on W10. Running a heavy game via an ‘app’ never sounds good.

Thanks for the input forzaites

Forza Horizon 3 reveal showed a guy playing on steering wheel setup on stage on a 4K pc so FH3 has wheel support

Maybe.

no not maybe kiddo, this is a fact. bout 100 videos on youtube that will prove it. always some one trying to start a argument just cause he cant admit hes wrong lol.

The video proves nothing, apex has been shown with a wheel also. So far they have not been able to get wheels to work well with apex and thus apex has no wheel support. Will they have wheel support fully working in time for Horizon 3 one would hope so but so far there is no evidence they are there yet or even close.

plz show proof of the wheel on apex. ive been following apex before it was released as the beta, have not seen any one with a wheel video showing it will support or what eventually it will have. dont kno why ppl have to lie to try and look smart? haha well good luck with w/e u got going bud.

Forza Motorsport 6 reveal showed a triple screen setup. So until it’s officially announced, PC wheel support = maybe.

Ralph Fulton said in a couple of the E3 interviews that wheel support for PC is in. I doubt he would lie that blatantly. He said a list of supported hardware would be forthcoming. I imagine they’re still trying to get as many devices working before they go gold.

Not sure why people dont realize that e3 is a show. look into it. look into the failures of it. They make some super version of the game and a very limited amount of it, and thats what people get to see. Also most of the demos and clips are not coming from the console they are coming from a… wait for it… gaming pc. So sure e3 is great to get an idea of whats coming but dont put all your chickens in one basket that because it happened there its going to happen in the real game. they are usually running a developer version of the game prepared specifically for the event.

Even though that’s website is super ‘pro PS4.’ I get your point.
That’s always been a trouble for me understanding, is it really that hard to bring a game to a PC from a console?? My thought has always been NOPE, and that money keeps the games on the relative consoles.
Enlighten me if I’m wrong.

Wheel Support is the phrase that makes everyone go a little crazy around here.
That and the mention of 4k can have the same effect.

I dont think its hard per say but games need to be designed on pc as you cant actually build them on the console. The pcs used to build the games are usually much more powerful than on console. The infrastruxture of the console is also different but is getting closer and closer from my understanding. Then you have to port it to the console which can cause issues (see project cars). But something that was awesome on the system it was designed on (pc) may have to be stripped down or redone again to work properly on the console due to the consoles power. Imo consoles tend to run dated hardware because it is cheap and they undeestand the pros and cons of it. So you basically have to downgrade a game to put it on the console.

It’s more because a console is a closed system with specific hardware. It’s easy to optimize that. On PC there are literally billions of configurations and so you can’t optimize to anywhere near the same level. That’s why consoles can be lower spec than a PC running the same game. The levels of hardware abstraction on PC are way higher than consoles. You have drivers, API’s, game engines, every time you take one level up, you need a jump in processing power to compensate. Sadly this gen of consoles went a little too low on their spec which is why Neo and Scorpio are on the horizon (No pun).
The PC’s they run game’s on at E3 etc are usually also running some special hardware or software to behave like the system they’re subbing for. In the case of Horizon though it could just be PC footage as it’s coming to that via UWP.
But as for wheels, I’ll say it again, Ralph Fulton said wheels supported on PC and list will be forthcoming once it’s locked down. Go watch some facetube or instavine videos! lol. I saw one two days ago where he addressed questions from the forums and the wheel question came up.

Yeah, the only one i’ve seen playing Apex with a wheel was a janky controller mod and it did not go well.

The windows 10 anniversary update is in august, id expect wheel support to be implemented at that time. But to be honest i have a feeling its only going to work with xbox one wheels either forever or at least the forseeable future. I could be wrong, maybe they’ve been taking this time to implement universal wheel support but for some reason i think they haven’t commented on it because they rarely say no to any question they either side step the question or give no answer at all. At e3 Ralph did say you could play it with “your favorite wheel”, and at a later date theyd have a list of compatible wheels. But a list of wheels that doesnt contain all wheels obviously couldn’t include everyones favorite.

Maybe he meant the interviewers wheel and was being sly like they do.
