What triggers barn find rumors?

I have been able to collect 6 barn finds but ever since that I was not made aware of new barn find rumors anymore. Does anybody know what triggers this part of the game? I’m sometimes driving around for the fun of it, do races, have the blue wrist band and wonder what else is required so that the remaining 3 barn finds could be found.

I was always curious about that too.

For me they just appeared at random. The first few were really quick then the others were quite far apart. Usually doing some races, bit of multiplayer…then when you least expect it another popped up. Nothing triggered them, just random
