Here I am racing A class, and I think I’ve built some really nice and light Mid Engine cars like the GT40 and the Toyota MR2. They’re tuned almost to perfection and, barring any crashes, finish 1st or 2nd every race. But then come in some Miata’s and RX-7s and they are seemingly gliding through the track! They’re outlapping me by 1 to 2 seconds and I’m driving great for what it’s worth too. I’ve noticed this since I first started playing online in Forza a couple of months ago so this isn’t new for me.
My best guess is that I’m thinking it has something to do with that 787B engine. Now I haven’t tested it out personally on those cars because I’m not a huge fan of Mazdas, but if anyone knows that little secret, that would be nice to know. I’m constantly striving to be better than the opposition so I’d never choose those cars and take the easy way out, but I’m going to continue to try and tune other cars to out race those Mazdas and hopefully shave a second or 2 to match them lol.
There isn’t any secret really. In A class the Miata can run top times on some tracks and the RX-7 is a good “lobby” car. Most likely the guys driving them were fast.
Also don’t feel bad about driving one they aren’t anything special. There are probly at least 20-30 cars that are just as fast if not faster in A class.
Thanks man. I know there are faster cars, but using leaderboard cars gives me an icky feeling inside for some reason. It’s a lot more self gratifying creating an unexpected beast and just surprising the living heck out of the whole lobby haha.
The only two cars in A class that you should feel bad using in a lobby is the XBow and the F50. But also that’s only if you are stomping out everyone. If you are in one of those and are equal to some other guys and its close racing than to me its all good.
Not understanding this statement at all. Are you saying that using a leaderboard car is equally wrong as being a wrecker?? Using a leaderboard car guarantees you nothing. If you’re not a good or great driver you will get shown up by a better driver in a worse car. But the long and short of this is, should a person not use a certain car because you don’t like it? Wrecking on the other hands kills everyone’s fun. It’s plainly wrong. So if you’re saying that getting beat by a LB car kills your fun, I’d say either man up or use the same car. You have options here.
Like everyone else said, drive what makes you happy. Also, unless you’re setting #1 times on every leaderboard, don’t be surprised if there are a couple faster people in a given lobby. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you drive, the other driver is just faster. Just have to keep at it and practice, practice, practice.
Cars with a 50/50 weight distribution, or closest to a 50/50 weight distribution, are always going to be the fastest because they can utilize the suspension properties and balance better. The rotary-powered RX Mazdas have some of the best weight distribution in the game, and the Miata is a very balanced car. They’ll naturally be quick as a result.
The weight distribution of the car is adjustable by the customizing that is done to it. I have a Lotus Exige with 43% of the wight to the front, it’s one of the best handling cars i’ve got. Same story with my RUF Rt 12 S.
In the real world a 50/50 weight distribution may be a key to a cars handling, but on this game, it’s all relative to the other aspects of the tune.
