What is the current state of FM7 on PC?

I loved FM4 on the 360 and played some Horizon 4 on Game Pass but cancelled my subscription due to not playing any other of the games, so I know what I am getting into with these games.

I have tested FH4 on my PC and it works great but I need answers for the other game I am looking to purchase.

I am looking into getting FM7 for PC and decided to download the demo, but as others have reported, it crashes before launching. So owners of FM7 on PC, how to does it run and how well is it optimized? Do you crash frequently? I just want some answers before I decide to purchase. Thanks.

(Hopefully this is the right place to post this, I apologize in advance.)

Really it would depend on your PC. I’m rocking a 1080Ti setup and it never crashes on me so far. Runs very smoothly, except for a few minor slowdowns in the menus, but never during actual gameplay.

Thanks for the reply.

I’m thinking about getting it for my 1060 3gb. I know it will have Vram issues but I’m ok with turning it down to medium to get no stuttering.

Overall, I just want to make sure the game is stable and I won’t be needing to return it because it won’t launch (like the demo). Your reply helps

Using a 980 4gb, it will run 1080/60 just fine with a few generation old cpu. There’s been a hefty amount of crash fixes for PC after the demo version was made. The game hasn’t kicked me back to desktop in over 6 months, it’s come a long way.

If you have the time just scroll through the community support forums; most of the problems are on PC.

While I agree that most of the problems were people on pc, IF you say that your system runs the Horizon4 demo “just fine” you should have no issues running 7.

It’s very good. One of the best PC ports/versions. My friend’s PC with 600mhz DDR2 RAM and GTX 960 can run it LOCKED 30FPS 1080p
I would say it runs better than FH4 (not only that but it’s waaay better game imo)

The game had some issues at release if i remember right but thats long fixed, at least for me. It runs perfect for me for 1 or even 10 hours straight. Had no crashes since ages.

Up until recently I use to crash to desktop a lot when playing FM7. The title is CPU bound to death, so I wasn’t getting good results when I tried to use my graphics card to force it on max settings, while keeping the frame rates in sync with my monitor. Now I don’t have god’s gift to graphic cards either. I am running a 1070 with a 3 gen Intel I5 (3570k), so I believe the problems I was facing lies in the CPU and ram. One or both weren’t fast enough to keep up with the demands that FM7 needed. When I ran FM7 in windowed mode, with the system properties open, I seen that the game was maxing out one of the CPU cores and the graphics card was practically idling. Even when I raced in the rain, or had a lot of cars on the screen. The Graphics card didn’t get past 40% while the CPU had one core pegged at 100%.

Taking humble pie, I set the graphics to Dynamic and V-sync locked the frame rate to my monitor’s 75mhz (I’m on an AMD Freesync monitor with an Invidia graphics card. I have to try to sync something to prevent tearing and stuttering), and for the most part, I haven’t had many Crashes to Desktop recently. I use to be pushing it with 3 or 4 online races, before I got sent to the desktop; but as of late, I can go for hours and nothing. So at least on my end, FM7 is performing much better.

I haven’t checked to see if the game is still maxing out a single core. It probably isn’t cause I suspect that is where my CTDs were coming from.
