I was really hoping that the League feature would be just that – setup a league with friends that tracks points, etc.
But the way Greenwalt described it, the League feature is essentially a skill/play style grouper. So less skilled, paired with less skilled, the annoying people that simply go online to race dirty is paired with other scrubs that enjoy racing dirty can ruin each other’s games and no longer mine.
Hopefully some folks read or heard news about League that I have not? If so, please share.
It better work, because FM5’s days of getting pared with anyone and everyone need to go.
I mean, I try my best not to judge in life, but you just know if you come across someone with a GT along the lines of ‘XxXELiiTE SNiiPEzXxX’ in Forza, they’re Going either be straight-out dirty, or spit their dummy out when they loose, or rage quit.
I don’t think anyone will really know how leagues work until we have enough real players and time to see how it fleshes out. I imagine it will be a work in progress until the numbers are consistent.
I also doubt we will be privy to too much of the underworkings as to prevent some less than desirable folks from exploiting loopholes or deliberately crafting their way into a particular league using whatever new tricks they can come up with. As we know there are people that live for finding ways to disrupt games… and others’ enjoyment.
I’m hoping it’s a straight up league for the League feature.
They touted how Forza 5 was going to eliminate or very least separate the crash racer from legit and we seen just how that worked out. It didn’t. Dirty racers were 95% of online races. And please, anyone do not post back with the canned and automatic response of: “well just race with your friends”. My friends have lives just like me.
I want to play online when I want to play online. There is no reason I should have to make phone calls, etc. “oh hey, Bob, Jeff, Bill, or Robby, do you want to drop everything and play Forza right now since I’m free”. No. Sorry. Not going to happen.
Honestly, I’ve purchased every Forza game (all Collectors Editions if made for that title) on launch day. This one I’m not feeling it. Mostly due to my game purchases anymore based on if there is a solid multiplayer aspect I enjoy.
Forza is enjoyable single player to me, yes, but after like 50 hours of single player I really want to go online and race. Just being rammed off the track in first 2 seconds of the race is simply not enjoyable.
Turn 10 I truly feel does not do enough to help my experience online be a positive worthwhile experience. So sadly I will sit launch day out, read reviews, listen to word of mouth, and decide if Forza 6 is worth my time this release.
I wonder how they determine who the “wreckers” are who aren’t. If there is a collision, do they just count it against both drivers? If so, I would think it’s going to be tough to get out of the wrecker groups once you’re in there.
But if its done well, I am looking forward to hearing people complain about how they were put in the wrong group. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve joined a lobby with someone complaining about how everyone else doesn’t know how to drive or is driving dirty only to see that very same person bouncing off everyone and everything on and off the track the very next race. Or that same person turning their car into a missile the first time they are touched.
Your understanding is correct. Just a way of grouping similar people together. We’ll see how it really works but at least they are trying to clean up lobbies for those who want clean racing.
They have to. So many people are tired of the dirty racers. Hardly played any Forza 5 online. Was not enjoyable. So that alone leaves lot of doubt for my possible Forza 6 purchase.
I feel like part of the issue with Forza 5 was that you can’t really start a proper vote kick. You can vote to kick someone but it doesn’t actually show anyone else that you’ve done so. So more often than not the people who are wrecking half the field get to stay in the lobby. This just means they keep doing it every night as there’s rarely any consequences for their poor behavior.
I understand the motivation to take the vote kick out (in terms of how it existed previously). Often people would just vote yes to any vote kick they saw even if the person didn’t do anything wrong. This would lead to the person who’s causing the trouble starting a vote kick immediately just to prevent one from being started against them.
I don’t know what the answer is but hopefully Turn 10 does. Horizon can be multiplayer bumper cars, proper Forza should be real racing as much as possible.
