What games are you waiting for?

I bought my Xbox One about a year ago. Since, I bought it I’ve bought 3 games for it, Forza Motorsport 5, Forza Horizon 2, and Thief. I’ve download a couple of free games too. I’ve bought more for my Xbox 360. (I admit they were older games and on sale.) The only games I play regularly on the Xbox one are the Forza games. I’m waiting for something to really wow me but I haven’t seen it yet. The Forza games are good but not wow games.

I didn’t get Need for Speed because I lost interest when the original Most Wanted came out. I just wanted to race and not deal with the police, like what we do in Horizon.

Assassin’s Creed Unity was recently released. I don’t know if I’m going to get it. I really enjoyed the original and 2. There has been a lot of hype about it but I’m not sure it is something I’d like. I’m not into multiplayer online games and that seems to be a big part of Unity. Some early user review aren’t very positive. The biggest complaint seems to be the game is buggy.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection came out recently. I never got into the Halo series, so I’m not really considering this.

The Crew is coming out shortly. I already have a couple of racing games. I’m not sure this will be different and better enough to consider buying.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is also coming out shortly. This game is on my radar. I really enjoyed the last one, Tomb Raider, on the Xbox 360. The graphics and gameplay on that one were really good.

If I look into the distant future, I can see two games that might be of interest, Forza Motorsport 6 and the sequel to Skyrim.

Forza Motorsport 6 will hopefully fix a lot of issues with Forza Motorsport 5 and have some additions. Obviously there will be more cars. I also suspect there will be more tracks. I also suspect weather may be added. I hope they fix the career races. The career play in 2, 3, and 4 was much superior to 5. There are other things I’d like to be adjusted but that is the main one.

The sequel to Skyrim may be good or bad. Skyrim is a bit buggy and Bethesda Softworks hasn’t done a lot fix them. They really need to work on this in the next version. They also need to do a lot of work on the graphics. The scenery is usually quite good. However, the NPCs and their reactions need a lot of work. The sequel will probably not come out until 2016 so they have a lot of time to get it right and I have a long time to wait.

This is what I’ve seen and what I’m waiting for. What are you waiting for?

GTA 5 and Project Cars(which got delayed till spring) are 2 that are on my must buy list for now.

Project Cars for me. Forza 5 is the only game I have for Xbox One right now and I’m wanting to get another racing game so I can finally decide who to blame for the horrible way Forza 5 plays. Either Forza 5 is making the Thrustmaster wheel feel terrible or vice a versa. If Project Cars plays fine then it was Forza 5 all along. But if Project Cars is still a mess then it could’ve been the Thrustmaster wheel.

GTA V, F1 2015

I am waiting for a game that it looks like will never come. A game where I say - this game is different from what we have had before and is an awesome game.

So far ALL Xbox One games have in one way or other been a disappointment.

Those I have hope for are:

The Division
Quantum Break
Cyberpunk 2077
Final Fantasy any

There will be a sequel to Skyrim? I know many, many, many Bethesda games fans are getting tired of waiting for Fallout 4. Like me. Seriously that’ll be the only game I’ll wait at midnight for, or if they do the pre-launch download thing, then I’ll most definitely be staying up all night for that. But if you want to play buggy Bethesda games, play Fallout New Vegas. I really like that game and it is an awesome game, don’t get me wrong, but damn is it buggy. The games are almost too much for the developers to even control. But I’ve sunk many an hour (easily over 400) into that game regardless, and I still have yet to fully complete it.

As far as this year goes, the only game that will be coming out soon (if it didn’t already come out) that I’m thinking about buying is Far Cry 4. I really enjoyed Far Cry 3, I just hope that Ubisoft didn’t butcher it. I never bought Titanfall for the always online gameplay, and with me not having Gold all the time, it really would just be a paperweight until I got Gold again. I’m not sure if AC Unity is the same in the always online sense, or if there is some sort of single player bit to it, and if it is always online, then count me out. Same goes for The Crew. I already have GTA V for my 360 so I don’t need that, and the only other game that I’m wanting to really play has been out for a little while, the Metro Redux Combo Pack (2033 and Last Light). Those games seem very interesting to me, and having the better graphics engine as opposed to the ones used on the 360, it should be a great looking game too.

Project Cars I’m sure will be a great racing game, but every video I’ve seen, it just looks like it should be named Shift 3 Unleashed. Especially with those immensely annoying and artificial (to me) gearbox whine sounds on every single car. I like the whine, and on appropriate cars it’s fine, but I also like hearing my engine, and I can’t imagine a stock Aston Vantage will have the whine in real life. I’ll only buy it if the reviews are good and people seem to enjoy it. And if it goes the way of Watch_Dogs (which I heard wasn’t even a bad game anyway), then at least I’ll have saved my money.

I might get COD: Advanced Warfare. I still like COD games, even though they differ from each other about as much as two apples do. They’re still pretty fun to me regardless.

I was pretty unimpressed with Battlefield Hardline’s gameplay demo that I saw on YouTube a few months ago. It turned from one country against another warfare to a game of cops and robbers. Really…?

As far as 360 games go, the ones I’m looking at are Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, GRID Autosport (which I know has been out for a while now), and AC Rogue.

The only games that I really want to see sequels of (or at least new versions) and have none in the making (that we’re aware of) are Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire. Even though the main characters died in both games…

And of course, Forza 6. I really have the sincerest hope that T10 has listened to us. Clearly, the graphics engine, physics engine (albeit dumbed down a bit), day and night, and rain are all compatible on the XB1. At this point, if FM6 doesn’t have those, then I’ll bid adieu. I’m fine with them being M.I.A in FM5, but it’s time for an FM to have that now.

Halo Multiplayer

A new installment of Midnight Club.

I have to agree with SatNiteEduardo. I am waiting for the game that will never come, the game that makes me say “Wow!”.

I looked through the other games mentioned and couple may be interesting to me. They are Quantum Break and Project Cars. If demo versions are released I might preorder them. Otherwise, I’ll wait until I see some reviews.

Will there be an Elder Scrolls VI? I can’t say for sure but I highly suspect it. There are a lot of rumors, many known to be false. However, I have reasons to believe it is in the works. Will it be released in 2016? I doubt it, since Fallout 4 isn’t going to be release until Q3 next year (more rumors). I can’t see Bethesda Softworks releasing another game so quickly. I’d bet more on 2018.

John Marston is killed in Red Dead Redemption?! I haven’t finished it. I was named after John Marston. Okay, not the John Marston in the game. I have a relative named John Marston. My name is John not Jim like everybody thinks from my userID. The letters in my userID all stand for something and the M is not Marston. Now you just have to figure out what the imB3 stands for.

Is Elder Scrolls Online what you are after? https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox-one-201603-The-Elder-Scrolls-Online-Daggerfall-Covenant-Edition-Xbox-One

You are playing on the wrong platform. Skyrim is more next gen than any next gen game so far.

Bethesda’s games are all buggy, it doesnt help when they continue with the gamebryo engine either. But the talented modding community always comes to help.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19/?

The same is true for the fallout games etc.

DUST is spot on. Just a YouTube search on Skyrim mods or Fallout mods and there are some absolutely incredible mods out there, from scenery to characters to weapons to locations to even whole missions. If only they made their way to the 360, but that’d spoil some of the fun I guess.

And apologies for the RDR (and for that matter LA Noire) spoiler, but I thought everyone knew. I knew within the first week after tons of people leaked it.

Never Alone and Far Cry 4 next week.
Ori and the blind forest in December (?)
And Project CARS, obviously.

Edit. About Halo MCC, I’m definitely going to pick it up (Probably during the Xmas holidays, not enough time to play games right now)

I’m unsure about Elder Scrolls Online. I’m not big into multiplayer online games. I’m less sure of a sequel to Skyrim. The rumor I’m relying on may have been referring to Elder Scrolls online. The message I got was rather cryptic about Elder Scrolls and Xbox One. I still hope there will be an Elder Scrolls 6.

May be I am playing Skyrim on the wrong platform. I am playing on the Xbox 360. The PC version may be the way to go. I’ll check the specs on my computer to see if it will run well. I’m not optimistic. I don’t have that powerful of a PC. It is an i5 but the video card isn’t that powerful.

Skyrim - vanilla - doesnt need the biggest baddest pc on the block, until you mod it heavily. Then its VRAM hungry, 2GB or less wont cut it. (depends on how heavily modded, what mods etc)

Currently, there aren’t any games that jump out at me as “must-buys.” I’ve been meaning to pick up Forza 5 for a long time but I always balk at the opportunity. I’ll probably go on a game-spree at Christmas. Ideally, I’ll pick up:

  • Halo: Master Chief Collection
  • Grand Theft Auto 5
  • Assassin’s Creed: Unity
  • Destiny
  • Rugby 15 (current release date: Feb. 2015)
  • Project CARS
  • Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare/Call Of Duty: Ghosts

Halo: The Master Chief Collection lands on top of my list because it’s two games in one. I’ll grab Destiny if it’s cheap and Advanced Warfare as a shooter, but I’m debating getting Ghosts for the price difference. Does anybody know if I should go for Ghosts or Advanced Warfare? I’ve been meaning to but I’ve never played the Assassin’s Creed series before, so Unity is on my list. I’m undecided about Grand Theft Auto 5: I’m not a big fan of the multiplayer, more specifically dying over-and-over again by a 12 year old with a car. Speaking of cars, I’ll be picking up Project CARS when it (finally) launches. And I have my reservations about Rugby 15, but it is a rugby game that’s coming to North America so I can’t be too picky. Hopefully it ships to Canada.

Cheers,
Ace

Just Cause 2, my favorite game of all time, is finally getting a sequel: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/11/11/december-cover-revealed-just-cause-3-29401230.aspx
Finally, after all these years, Just Cause 3; oh my stars! Just a reminder what JC2 was all about: - YouTube
Btw, JC3’s announcement is what finally made me decide to go next-gen; Black Friday here I come!! XD Oh, & The Crew! The entire U S of A? I’ll take it, TYVVM

P.S.: If you’re very particular about driving physics/handling models (this being the Forza forum, you wouldn’t be alone), then JC & The Crew might actually offend “gentler, more refined” sensibilities :P. JC2 in particular had atrocious car handling, tho flying was surprisingly pleasant  But who are we kidding? In that game, you’re there to blow stuff up & otherwise go bonkers! ;D

I checked by computer and the outlook isn’t good for Skyrim. It has 4GB of memory and a Radeon R5 video card that shares memory. The computer is great for work which is what I bought it for. I have gone away from gaming on the PC. That is why I have an Xbox 360, an Xbox One and a PS3. I don’t want to buy a new computer or upgrade the video card for one game. I already have a working version of the game. The only issues are the graphics aren’t as nice as the PC version and the PC version has several mods the Xbox version doesn’t. I can still play the game. I just want the story to continue on a system with better graphics.

I looked a little more at Elder Scrolls online. The story is set 1,000 years prior to Skyrim. It is not a continuation of the single player Elder scroll series. The reviews are either you love it or you hate it and nearly evenly split. I’m not a big fan of playing online. I guess I’ve had too many bad experiences. In the Forza series I seem to have the talent of finding the wreckers. However, I have had some very good races online. In other games I seem to find the person who knows everything and wants you to stay out of his/her way.

I have no objections to games that are just games. That is why I’m considering The Crew. I am waiting for reviews to make a decision. I also considered GTA V. I played GTA III and IV. They are good games but I’m a little burned out on them. I want something a little different.

I guess it depends what mods you are after. Hard to know which you are referencing. (not that it matters).

There are mods that change the game on a mechanical and fundamental level, its not even the same game once you add the following.

Realistic animals and predators

Changes the animal AI completely. They will hunt, roam in packs, have offspring. Bears will hunt lesser animals etc, same with dragons. Used to 1 - 3 wolves? try a pack of 10.

Immersive NPC’s in the dark

No longer do the NPC’s just see you. If its too dark, they will go fetch light before walking into the area. combine this mod with -

Wearable lanterns

Wet and Cold

NPC’s react appropriately to the weather. They will go and fetch warm clothing when it begins to snow etc.

Frostfall

yea, now you have to care about food, cold, warmth, and your health. Cant be all wet in a blizzard and survive.

Realistic needs and diseases

Combine this one with frostfall.

Climates of Tamriel

A must have. Changes weather, audio, dungeons for the better.

At this point, its no where near the same game you have played, at all.

I broke down and bought a new video card and extended the memory in my PC. I also bought Skyrim.

I definitely was playing Skyrim on the wrong platform. The Xbox 360 version is very good but the PC version in incredible with all the mods I added.

xJonxMonx56, don’t worry about the spoilers. I’m not sure I will ever go back and finish RDR. It’s a good game but I prefer swords to guns in action games.
