RIP Harold Ramis. As a tribute, a favorite Ghostbusters memory of mine. I remember growing up my cousins and I played at my grandmother’s house quite often, and in the toy room she had a box full of old action figures/hot wheels/g.i.joe toys/etc., but there was always one toy which caught my attention and I always wanted to play with - a die cast model of the Ecto-1. This thing was sweet - the doors would swing open, the rear gate would open down and the car was detailed to the nines with all of the lights, gear, even down to the whitewalls. On more than a few occasions the Ghostbusters teamed up with G.I. Joe and whatever other action figures we could (barely) manage to fit inside the doors to go and tame otherworldly spirits in the nether regions of the backyard sandbox. I don’t think the Ecto-1 was designed for that kind of off-roading, but who was to tell a bunch of 6-7 year old kids any different? Haha. Good times.

My other favorite Harold Ramis movie moment is from Stripes - which was filmed around parts of the town I live in (neat fact). The scene features Ramis’ character, Ziskey, teaching English to some foreigners whose grasp of the language leaves much to be desired. Ziskey asks if anyone speaks a little bit of English, and one man raises his hand and when Ziskey asks again, “Yes, you speak some English?” he responds with a string of profanities which the rest of the class then chimes in in unison. Absolutely sophomoric, but priceless nonetheless.

My favorite Harold Ramis stuff was Animal House, Stripes, Caddy shack, and National Lampoons Vacation. He was also a head writer for SCTV, a sketch comedy show whose original cast featured other greats John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Joe Flaherty on the original cast.
The bounty hunter event was alot of fun even though Im sadly one of the 30,000 plus that lost out. Looking forward to the next one though.

Meatballs (1979) would be my favorite movie he co-wrote. Here is the best quote from the movie:
“Tripper: And even if we win, if we win, HAH! Even if we win! Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn’t matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they’ve got all the money! It just doesn’t matter if we win or we lose. IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER!
Rest of group: IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER! IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER…”

It is always a hard thing seeing actors you grew up watching get their angel wings. RIP. You will be missed. I would say that Ghostbusters is an all time favorite.
