When contesting a series that is designed to find the driver best capable at extracting the maximum performance from machinery that only has only certain tuning options available, no-one need look any further than the Virtual Motorsports SpecRacing event. With its focus purely on driving talent and not on the advantages gained from a well tuned car, the seventh incarnation of this event will allow drivers to hone their skills to the nth degree in the all important chase for lap time. For the first time in Virtual Motorsports history, the SpecRacing Series 7 will become a dual-timezone event as it evolves onto Forza Motorsport 5. In taking the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R at a performance index of C-500, drivers will experience a field of Mustangs racing under a tight set of parameters over 8 weeks. SpecRacing Cobra R provides a fun class in which all driver use the same rules and regulations to compete on a level basis for competition.
Racing on Thursdays, with the EU Race taking place at 15:00 CDT / 20:00 GMT / 06:00 AEST and the following US Race at 19:00 CDT / 00:00 GMT / 10:00 AEST, drivers will do battle in a variety of locations which will test the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R. Starting off in home territory, the series will begin at Road Atlanta for Race 1 before heading off to Sebring International Raceway before leaving the US. Europe is the next leg with Race 3 at Silverstone Grand Prix followed by the 4th Race at Catalunya National. Prague’s streets will entertain the Ford Mustang’s for Race 5 before the 6th Race at Yas Marina Corkscrew. Back to the USA for the final two races however with the penultamate race taking place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca before finishing the series off at Road America!
Within Series 7, there will be 4 championships available to the drivers, with each driver being able to enter into at least 2. The Drivers Championship will feature all drivers from the series in one unifying championship, however, there will also be Teams and Privateers Championship that will cater for the drivers individual requirements. In addition, all drivers that are contesting the SpecRacing event for the first time will also be placed into the Rookies Championship for their one and only shot at this exclusive title. With 4 Championships available, the fight for honours should prove intense.
Working alongside Turn 10, the series is officially sponsored and will feature DLC, in-game credits and gift cars to be won by the drivers. Those skilled, or lucky enough to finish in the top 10 of the Drivers Championship will earn themselves a share of the credits available, with the overall winner of the Championship also gaining a DLC pack too. Not only that, the top 5 in the Teams, Privateers and Rookies Championships will receive a share of the credits too. In addition, for all drivers that complete the series with 100% attendance (attending 7 out of 8 races), a random draw will take place to determine who receives a credit boost.
Series 7 of the SpecRacing event will begin on the 13th March and run through consecutive weeks until the series finale on the 1st May. 8 weeks of intense racing against all manner of skill levels in a series that is very good for those that want to pick up and play, and won’t require hours of practice to master.
