Upgrading from Standard Edition to Limited Edition

Did anyone buy the standard version of FM5 then turn around and buy the Limited edition version? Im asking because I got forza 5 with the xbox one bundle and it came with the standard version, so if I buy the limited version and install it will it mess up what work I have done so far. Im at 440 level, 85% Drivatar, 180 cars, and three series left to do. I don’t want to loose all that I have done got over 100 hours played time… Also does turn 10 ever release the limited version cars as a DLC later.

I bought the standard and then upgraded to the metal box VIP version. I don’t remember specifically that I lost anything. Your advancement in the game should be fine.

I bought the Limited Edition, and it really isn’t as good of a bargain as it was in Forza 4.

The best value is in the VIP membership which you can get without the LE. Unless you really like the steel case.

Note: The Limited Edition cars you mentioned are cars that you already have access to. They just have custom paint and tune. The VIP membership is the only part of the LE that adds new cars.

I work at GameStop and recently we received one copy of the LE version of Forza 5. I wasn’t able to get ahold of a copy when the game released so I bought the SE and when this one came in I put it aside so I can buy it. The problem I’m having is that I already own the standard edition of the game and I’m pretty far into it. If I buy the LE version now after I’ve already been playing the standard copy will I lose all my progress?

AFAIK it is the same game just with a code for the VIP and car packs (which you still have to buy to own them) so in theory it shouldn’t effect you main save.

There is no difference between discs. The only difference with the product is the packaging and the supplied codes. You can interchange discs without disrupting any saved content.

No. Changing to VIP just gives you access to a few add-ons, that is it. it doesn’t change the game itself.

The way they set it up if you alreayd have VIP/Day One you lose the 2nd set of codes (because LCE comes with all as one code) so you can’t gift the 2nd VIP/DayOne codes, kind of lame. My fault for not buying LCE in the first place I guess.

Do I get the car pass?

No the car pass is separate. But again any of the DLC just remember you have to still “buy” the cars themselves with in-game CR. They don’t just show up in the garage.

Yes I know, I’ve been playing Forza for a while so I’m pretty familiar with buy DLC. I just didn’t know how it was going to work with this game.

Works the same as all previous versions. Buy the DLC, then buy the cars in game with credits or tokens. But in response to the OP, I’d go ahead and buy it if you feel like spending another $80 for just the VIP pass and some extra cars that are only available with the LE. If you really aren’t concerned about getting the extra cars and the 1250 tokens, then I’d say save some money and just buy the VIP alone for $20.

I won’t even be paying $80, I probably won’t even have to pay $10 for it because I can take my copy back and get full price from it on top of a discount. When it comes down to it I’ll be getting VIP Pass and LE cars for almost nothing.

You shouldn’t have a problem. All that LE is is a regular Forza 5 disc, placed in a metal box with codes that come with it that you can download. You won’t have any issues with having to restart.

Thank you everyone for all of your helpful responses.
