Understanding split screen limitations

Hi all,

Apologies in advance if this question was asked already.

I am just trying to figure out why screen screen multiplayer feels so… empty.

What, specifically, is the reason behind not being able to rent all the cars when going head-to-head? Is there a way around this? Right now my selection is limited to very few vehicles.

Thanks.

Rentals are limited for both single and multi-players matches. This was a design decision that Turn 10 went with, presumably to encourage you to purchase the vehicles that are not available for rental.

Might be the case but is still a bit pointless because you don’t have the option to test drive and compare two cars you want to choose from…

So just so I understand - across all modes, rentals are limited?

And if someone signs in as a guest, they cannot use a car you own in your garage?

It’s just strange to me a game that is only playable after you pay $500 for a console has less content then the previous titles…

Correct. All modes feature only a select assortment of vehicles that are available for rent.

As for your last remark: no. This is the first time a Forza franchise title has ever been a console launch title. That, alone, brings many limitations. Add the need to remodel vehicles and environments and you may start to understand how the numbers have been scaled back for this for first Xbox One release.

So you’re telling me allowing to share your garage in split screen mode was a task that T10 couldn’t handle due to this game being a launch title? First they have a few rentals, that should have taken some “time” to do and now they have allowed all the cars for split screen / free play yet you still can’t share player ones garage…WHY?

Did you even read the post I was responding to, or did you just feel the need to jump on my comment because it was there? My remark regarding limitations was a direct reply to the statement from Eloper about a game on a $500 console that, in his/her words, has less content (as in cars, tracks, etc.) and had less to do with this thread. Let’s try to respond to others within context, shall we?

Yeah I had to do this last night with my wife on split-screen cos she could only rent, the good thing being that she has her own XB account and so went ahead and played a few races to gain some CR and buy a car and also get her drivatar up to speed to win her some CR now and then. It does suck that there are no AI opponents though, it got a little stale after two or three races just her and I.

The worst part of it is not being able to race splitscreen against AI. Makes absolutely no sense.

Can only hope the game gets a good boost once the xbox’s firmware gets updated. I’m kinda of waiting on that, before making any judgements, as apparently its going to be a good performance bump.

I can only agree with this… It’s so frustrating not having AI opponents … Also when having friends over, having them limited on cars is :(…

Does the ‘rent any car’ glitch work for split-screen, or only singleplayer? And no AI? Hmm, we had up to 2 in FM4…

And while it doesn’t necessarily need to blow up on these forums, like T10 mentioned, if we’re loud enough, things can be changed… (The rent car bit that is, the AI part is far more complicated.)

Sorry to revive this thread but… I also agree that removing the ability for “player 2/guest” to use my garage cars is just pure nonsense, how can you have a fair race when you, the console owner, have modified and tuned cars vs your guests bog standard rentals? I found out the hard way, was keen to show off my brand new system + forza 5 combo to my friends only to ditch and revert back to the 360/forza 4 after about ten frustrating minutes. The removal of this basic feature in my opinion has totally destroyed “pass and play/winner stays on” etc etc which I’m sure many of us enjoyed in ALL of the previous titles…

Note to Turn 10: Not all people have Xbox one/forza 5, ergo not everyone can put in the grind to build up a garage of their own…

CMON TURN 10 LET GEUSTS USE THE OWNERS GARAGE CMON !!!

I had been waiting for months to try the split srceen mode, with my account boosted up, so there would be no problem with choosing cars for player two. Even bought the 50$ car package, which IMHO is the biggest ripoff ever, but no problems, if I cna race with more cars in split screen( which I can’t, this is BS!!!)
But then finally the controller arrived, and I was shocked that the split screen mode is full of bugs.
My player level is above 100, and any number obove two digits cannot be displayed when recieving poiunts at the end of the match. (muhaha, noone checked? bravo)
The worst thing is that player 2 cannot play from player 1s garage while in guest mode? Seriously? You have to be kidding… But it’s no joke, after playing with three generations of Forza, this is like stabbing your most faithful fans in the baxck!
I feel that this question has to be solved, for the game, but with all the money hungry people in the world nobody cares what users think, you pay 100$ dollars for a game and DLC and what do you get? a freaking slap on the face.

I just bought forza 5 and played a lot of forza 4 with friends in splitscreen. Some things annoy me in forza 5:
-Is it really not possible to see laptimes after the race has finished ? many times i would have liked to compare our best lap times but it just doesnt show them or am i missing something ?
-Rental cars still only possibility for other player ? or am i supposed to create other profile for them ? rental cars cant be upgraded ? so if i create profile then i can ?
-No ai drivers is pure performance issue ? going to be added in future?
-In addition to laptimes why are no split times shown while racing ? or is it a option that i missed somewhere ?
