UI/UX Proposal: Enhancing Online Lobby Interface for Better Track Recognition

As a dedicated player who has been with Forza Horizon 5 since Day 1, I would like to offer a constructive proposal regarding the Event Signup / Online Lobby Interface. My goal is to help players make more informed car selections based on track layouts, especially with the anticipated addition of “Touge” mode in Forza Horizon 6.

The Problem: Memory vs. Recognition

In the current Forza Horizon 5 online experience, it is challenging to memorize the layout of every single track by name alone. While iconic tracks like Tunnel Run are easy to remember due to their unique atmosphere, many other circuits feel similar in name and description. This often leads to players choosing the “wrong” car for a specific layout because they cannot quickly visualize the turns and straightaways during the brief lobby period.

Proposal Details: Analysis of Current UI

  • Empty Space: Since online rotations were reduced from 5 events to 3, there is significant “dead space” at the bottom of the list.
  • Redundancy: Certain information, such as “Online Mode” and “Total Distance,” appears in multiple locations, cluttering the view without adding value.

Proposal 1: Optimization of Legacy Layout

  • This design utilizes the existing FH5 framework but replaces the vertical list with Vertical Track Cards.
  • Visual Aid: By integrating the Track Map directly into each card, players can immediately recognize the layout (technical vs. high-speed).
  • Consolidation: Icons and text are grouped logically to reduce eye strain and eliminate redundant labels

Proposal 2: Modernized Theme for Forza Horizon 6

  • This is a complete overhaul designed for the next generation of Horizon.
  • Horizontal Banner: Moves the “Lobby Detail” (Car Class, Race Type, Weather) to a sleek top banner.
  • Maximizing Real Estate: By reducing the size of the “Racing Type” decorative image, we gain massive space to display High-Resolution Track Previews.
  • Scalability: This horizontal layout allows for larger text, clearer weather symbols, and the potential to add more technical track data if needed.

With the track list expected to grow in Forza Horizon 6, relying on name recognition alone is no longer sufficient for competitive or casual play. Moving toward a Visual-First Interface will allow players to strategize their car builds more effectively and improve the overall flow of the online experience.

Nice one. I absolutely despise the current situation in FH5, I can never prepare the proper car simply because I don’t instantly know all tracks in the game by name. Your suggestions make a lot of sense and will cure a lot of issues, even if implemented at least partially.
