I’ve had a great time playing Forza Horizon 2 and it was my most anticipated game until time of release. I’ve logged close to 40 hours on the game up until Sunday morning where things started to go a bit south.
I started playing in the morning and the game ran as it should. I was suddenly booted back to the dashboard after the audio stuttered (like it has done on many other games). I didn’t think anything of it and normally I’m just able to jump right back in. When I reached the title screen with the Hurcan and other clips I could not load the game without the game audio buzzing and the xbox sending my back to the dashboard shortly after I tapped “A”. This is still where I am at and it hasn’t changed.
As for troubleshooting the issue, I thought at first it still was just a small glitch and a reboot would probably fix it. It didn’t. I eventually went through all the troubleshooting steps both with and without Xbox Support. I will try and mention as many things that I have tried but I assure you I have tried everything I was told to try.
Hard Reboot (Holding power button and unplugging power cable)
Rebooting my router
Double checking ports on router
Using both wired and wireless network (Static and automatic ip). NAT type was open during both
Reinstalling the game 3 times (1 time online, 2 offline and installing update after install was complete).
Removing my profile, clearing persistent storage, clearing alternate mac address then re-downloading my profile to the console.
Moving the game from my external hdd to my internal and back again
Not installing the car pass, vip and day one cars, just the game.
Cleaning disc
Using a friends console and trying various options
May have missed some things but I have tried everything.
Xbox Support as well as myself are almost positive its on the games side of things. The game seems to fail at loading my saved profile data and I cannot play both offline or online. I have tried using a friends profile with the same disc installed and it works fine. On his console I downloaded my profile and the same thing happened as on my console at home. The issue is only affecting my profile so data is corrupted or something is going on along those lines.
Xbox Support assured me my saved game data would be fine and that Turn 10 would be able to resolve the issue, that is if I could get in contact with them. I was told not to delete my game save and that it would be sorted out in the near future. I feel that if I were to restart, I would be able to play as normal but then I would lose nearly 40 hours of gameplay I believe for something that happened that was completely out of my control.
I don’t know if my data can be repaired or fixed but I need some sort of confirmation because Xbox claims I can get it back in working order. I will currently be sending another email to Turn 10 with a reference number of the dialogue and the stuff that was discussed.
If anyone else has experienced this specific issue I would love to hear from you. I have yet to find anyone who has but many people seemed to have experienced similar issues but a simple reboot or quick adjustment seemed to fix everyone else problems that were related to not being able to play. The most common being the loading wheel spinning indefinitely.

I think this is a bug that is a result of being in the update preview program. Have you installed the latest update for the preview program? I had the same issue as you - I haven’t had it in over a day now as I have automatic updates on and I think it was installed while I was at work yesterday.
It should be patched long time ago… but it sems that they will rellese DLC first to earn some extra money…
So think about it before you buy next time a game from those guys…
The issue is caused by an update, which is something that can’t really be foreseen or tested until it’s live. It’s only affected a small group of people so it’s important, but not something that I assume Turn 10 knew about before releasing.
As for the DLC - that’ll be a different team and doesn’t really affect either way what happens with a patch for the issue.
No I was never on the dashboard preview and I have yet to see anyone with my problem. To make it more clear, it isn’t the issue with car meets, the dasboard program, car clubs or the loading wheel spinning indefinitely. My game simply freezes as soon as my profile tries to load from the title screen. The game booted me back to the dashboard on Sunday while driving my Bowler on a road trip. No loading screens or anything that I was aware of. The game does load from time to time while driving so that may have occured when I was driving which may have corrupted my data??? I don’t know but I still need a conclusive answer as to what I should do or what can be done.
My forza 5 save got corrupt too and still shows 66mb save file with over 13m spent on garage and lost it all. Lets hope this one doesnt mess up or I am going ape.
My save file is only 16.4MB. Were you able to access the game when the save got corrupted? Some people have reported that they logged in and simply lost all their cars and money. I can’t get in to check that. Plus I have the dlc so I don’t know if I will get those cars back for 0 credits if I have to restart. I was assured that my data was safe and it was on Turn 10’s end but i have my doubts…
I’m having same problem… Had to replace my Xbox One AGAIN as the hard drive was extremely noisy, like a grinding noise! So onto my third Xbox One… I reset the last console before sending it back to Game and just finished installing fh2… its frozen on the syncing data as the white line is not moving yet the game is still running in the background with the wheel still rotating… Please be a fix, I’ve spend many hours into the night to get where I am now D: and as I type this the syncing has gone but now its just the video saying “loading… please wait” with the wheel… this needs to be fixed
YES!! Okay so I kept starting the game and trying to sync and kept repeating that and left it for about 20 mins and it started downloading! got to 100% and paused there for ages then it started :')
-Try it out guys, hope it works for you all… its so devastating when this sort of thing happens… on my old 360 we could not worry and be able to back them up on memory sticks periodically (have to transfer to pc obviously since you could only move the saves) but since this cloud saving came in… sigh
