Tuning with Drag Tyres

Has anyone out there discovered the best way to minimize rear slide, gain best front end response and all with stopping power on understeer when tuning circuit using drag tyres?

I’m looking to improve some tunes I have even further if that’s possible.

Thank you

A post in the Tuner’s Lounge talking about using drag tyres for circuit is a bit like letting one go at the dinner table. At least imo.

Thanks Mick :),

I hope on this occasion you’ll forgive me as I couldn’t get the car into A Class any other way. In fact I believe its the only S Class car that will drop into A.

Just this once, I promise.

The tuning is pretty much the same.

More response = higher caster
Easier to turn mid corner= lower caster (it will feel like the rear of the car is pushing the front off the track)

Better grip on the rear is the same but just remember it is drag tires.

If the car has large sidewalls upgrade the rim diameter to 19"

I am a cool kid and if I didn’t use drag tyres then the car would have been S class and I wanted A Class and using drag tyres is just as unrealistic as using a 3rd person view to race

You could probably build a contraption to control a car from 3rd person before you’d find a car with drag tires out accelerating everything and turning on a dime…lol

as worm said up the rim size i only messed around with a bclass skyline with drag tires i upped the rim size to max and managed to make a 610 bhp awd skyline first outing on the ring got me into 250 on leader boards i was really surprised how well it grips and the braking is much better

I also lower the braking pressure and take the bias back closer to 50%. Other than that not to much difference than the regular battle of taming the rear end down

Thanks guys I just wanted to check whether I was missing anything. I’ll try the rim size thing however PI Points are very tight. I’ll have to add some more wheel weight :frowning:

I’ll leave the drag tyres at home next time that’s for sure! I wish I hadn’t started this thread now :frowning: haha

You can just jump ahead at the start and block for the rest of the race. And one things for sure about drag tires, they bite into the road nice during braking. I would forget about handleing altogether. Just build the car for speed and brake hard and late, point the car in the direction of the next straightaway, and then floor it lol. This might work for those stop and go tracks like le mans, long beach, yas marina, and that square road america circuit.
