First off, please merge this with the correct related topic if one exists, I did look but i may be blind /hides
so i tried some team adventure and definately didnt find it quite as enjoyable as FH3 multiplayer racing. The main issues i came across were
It was only S class cars. S1 or S2 were all that came up. The coding picked the class, theres not even a rigged voting like in FH3 (the choice on the left would be picked if no one voted, if a tie then whatevers on the left would win regardless but at least there was some semblance of player control). We all just get told what we’re driving and its literally limited to the worst options imaginable…
… and thats cause 90% of the players cant drive, they have the skillset of angry children. They ram smash and have tantrums at every possible moment. They side swipe they come from behind they shove out of checkpoints they push into structures and obstacles. Im convinced the majority of the problem comes cause none of these people have any skill and cant control a car above A class. But the game only gives them the options they cant control, so the issue is intensified.
Overall i did not enjoy my time in any capacity. What would I do to change anything? I would give more options on car choices, why bother even having D C B or A if they arent included in the games online modes. I would also remove collisions at least have some mode with out them. Its a pointless experience “racing” when you spend all your time driving back on track cause someone with a sticky taped trigger KO’d your car on yet another corner (or straight or whatever)
While piloting cars beyond a player’s skill level can result in incidents another key concern is that the game doesn’t tell players that “smashing is bad”.
In many scenarios it does the opposite, awarding Skill Points for Wreckage, having cross-Country routes that smash through walls etc. There are also no consequences for this behaviour online, so as far as these players are concerned they’re not doing anything “wrong”.
Unlike in Forza Motorsport where racing has as set of real-life rules and code of ethics to fall back on, Forza Horizon titles don’t have this, so it’s perfectly reasonable for people to believe that racing only has 2 rules:
Don’t miss the Checkpoints.
Whoever finishes first wins the race.
I would not expect “regulations” to be set for Forza Horizon races, so you’ll simply have to deal with the fact that some people will not race in a traditional manner. It’s up to you if you want to join in on that style of behaviour or not.
I turned them into entertainment for the most part.
I’ll just float to the back of the pack and follow along.
As they are wrecking and smashing into each other I tend to honk the horn repeatedly, I live the Boxibg Ring Be horn for that reason alone.
Now if I am testing out some minor tweaks to a tune I’ll give them about a 30 second headstart to give me room to test.
If I get lucky and get a first or second place start I’ll use the cars launch and acceleration tuning to get ahead of the wreckage and usually win.
Heads up, if you a Lambo Lenny type and take the Hurrican into an off road race, don’t get mad if my Titan rolls over you.
I don’t mind last place so you never have to be there yourself, but ya gotta at least finish the race or get run over so I can.
You both have some good points and excellent observations. From my point of view, I do believe that car class (PI) plays a very big part in how drivers perform. For me, I am one of those people who can’t control an S2 car to save my life. I’ve been playing Horizon for years, and just can’t manage the throttle control with that kind of horsepower, and the braking at those high speeds and quick acceleration.
I can handle most S1 cars pretty well, but I am most comfortable in A class, and also enjoy B class. If Team Adventure was class based, I think it would make a big difference in race quality. Provide the drivers with a choice of class to race, and I think we would see significantly fewer tantrums and rampaging. Along with this, they must remove Freeroam Rush as a racing event. It creates such an unpleasant experience. If necessary, add it to the Games adventure, or make it a category of it’s own.
No matter what changes are made, we will never be free of those people who are intentionally rampaging their way through each event. I do feel, that if we had options as to the type of racing categories. it would reduce the negative impact and experience most people are feeling now.
