Track Changes and Competitive Integrity

Not sure if this will be seen by T10 but I wanted to ask a question about the decision to change the layout of track boundaries.

For those that haven’t seen, in the RVM, Turn 10 have said that the newest title update will include changes to Monza and Catalunya, amongst others, and how their boundaries are policed. This is to further strengthen the commitment to making Forza the premiere title in the competitive Xbox scene. My question to T10 is this: at no point in the RVM did I see leaderboards for these tracks mentioned. Surely, when you change the landscape of a track entirely, the leaderboards should be wiped to preserve competitive integrity? Those tracks, if the boundaries as I suspect have been tightened, will be a non event when it comes to hotlapping as they’ll already have been cut. What do you plan to do to address this? Are wipes coming? I know nobody likes them, myself included but it seems like the only logical thing to do.

I’m a little confused, there are tracks with way more problems than the ones that were adjusted. Bugatti and Yas are absolute disasters and not competitive at all. I can see Monza but I never had a problem with cutters on Catalunya or Cota really. Seems like the biggest track complaints were ignored in favor of minor tweaking of other tracks. I don’t get it. Yas and Bugatti have by far the worst cutting issues. It is ridiculous. Those 2 tracks need to be addressed next and for future Forza titles especially Yas which Turn 10 appears to have weird obsession with. Constantly every single version comes up in the leagues and the cheating is just off the wall.

Have to agree with this. Nobody likes a leaderboard wipe, but it seems like the only fair thing to do considering T10 have voiced their commitment to be the premier title in the competitive Xbox scene.

T10, please do the logical thing and wipe the leaderboards involved.

I echo as above, if boundaries are as they say being tightened to prevent as much/any corner cutting on tracks, there is no chance your lap time will be as quick.

Leaderboards need to be wiped for those tracks to reflect new quickest times on the new adjusted layout.

Also echo this. [Mod Edit - inappropriate reference removed - MM]
You have to make your own track up to even be competitive with all the cutters.

I’d rather they fixed the tracks with “clean” cuts first, like Spa and Indy GP. At least at Yas all the cuts are dirty and there’s no ambiguity.

This is what I’m thinking The game should do what it can to remove legal cuts first. It’s much easier to police these than to try and police the cheaters and such online.

Agreed they could at least make the tire wall on Indie GP indestructible to stop people cutting turn 7, how hard can it be.

Bugatti needs it badly.

The quote from the Turn 10 Select Car Pack article says:

"July Content Update

"In addition to the Turn 10 Select Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, we have released the latest content update for Forza Motorsport 6. The focus of this content update has been on bringing three tracks in Forza Motorsport 6 back into competitive play – Monza, Catalunya, and Circuit of the Americas. The team at Turn 10 has worked to address numerous issues on all three of these tracks. For example, at Monza, the chicane at Turn 4 has been adjusted to more accurately distinguish between clean and dirty driving lines. In addition, the tire wall at Turn 4 has been moved to alter the driving line and better prevent corner cutting.

“With the upcoming launch of the Forza Racing Championship, today’s content update for Forza Motorsport 6 represents the latest step in our ongoing commitment to make Forza 6 the home of competitive racing on Xbox. Forza fans will be seeing additional changes coming to the game, including in next month’s content update in August. Look for more details on the Forza Racing Championship soon and for details on future content updates in the weeks and months to come.”

HINT: Make sure to install the Content Update BEFORE attempting to install the latest DLC. There will be changes with the CU to accommodate the DLC.

Thanks Snowowl.

I think we all agree on the tracks that are the issue, Indy has some horrendous cuts also but it’s not just as simple as changing them. The tracks that have been altered today are now completely different competitively than they were, yet the same leaderboards stand. That can’t be preserving the competitive spirit that these changes are intending surely?

Have you seen Silverstone in the rain? From what I was told (don’t care enough to try again) the pit lane exploit can’t be done due to nascar update, however the times are still there.

T10 has never done track modifications this late in the game.

Sit back and be happy some tracks were improved upon. I’m absolutely thrilled. Progress is better than none and hoping it’s fixed in FM7.

If I had to wager, these tracks will be included in the upcoming championship.

Actually glad someone touched monza. I dont think Catalunya or COTA though are worth the wipe. But definitely monza

Depends on what they did with COTA. There’s a few spots where you kinda cut to gain time, but it’s also hard to do right. Maybe COTA was more to prevent people from corner cutting the esses in lobby?

They added a barrier on the last part of the S that cuts in on the left hand side so it actually does affect the lap time but maybe only by less than a tenth

Ahh ok. Not a major change but not bad either. You’re right, it doesn’t effect times much. That section is the one I was thinking about that was hard to hit right.
