In part I agree with you. A bug this severe should stop a regular car pack. But than a car pack wouldn’t really require an embargo. If it’s the Porsche DLC however, lots of promotional activaties would have been initiated, including embargoed salespoints. Stopping all of this for a bug that I’m assuming was discovered very late in the process is quite difficult. And if this is the Porsche DLC, I personally don’t really care that much, since I’ll be driving the cars from one manufacturer for the coming weeks…
Forcing out content regardless of any huge flaws is simply unjustified ignorance and complete disregard for your community as a whole. I could sit here and list dozens of game developers that have destroyed their game by not caring and forcing out content, but what will that do? 3/4ths of the people who have commented thus far seem content with having a failed update release and seeing this game being criticized in the very near future in articles about how you’ve ruined thousands of people’s ability to play the game by forcing this out. Causing damage to the name of Turn 10. Maybe someone on the team will get a portion of their brain working minutes before this is released and stop this horrible outcome. The rest of us who care about the game can only hope.
Message to all wreckers / crashers. Please run the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype, a DLC car from February’s Alpinestars Car Pack. With the Level 3 weight reduction upgrade/tune. This will enter you in to Godmode and guarantee you an overall win.
I’m glad we have been informed but it would be wise to send a message through the in-game message system, if possible. Not everyone reads the forums.
I also agree that if it could have been avoided this update should have been pulled and not pushed out with what sounds like a game breaking bug. However, I imagine it has came to light to late in the release cycle to be pulled. It could also be fixing another major issue and is required?
At least some of us have been informed. Better than a company pleading ignorance and allowing people’s games to break.
The standard is Day/Month/Year, Month/Day/Year isn’t used outside North America. So to most of us at a quick glance this news could look two months old.
Yes. However, the actual ISO standard (ISO is the International Standards) say that the standard date format is Year/Month/Day. I can’t remember which standard I need to quote but I know this to be the case.
The ISO standard makes the most sense when naming files and placing it in a computer. Guarantees that will sort in order of date, whereas the date section in Windows which has improved a lot can still be corrupted.
It isn’t backwards for us, and Turn10 is an american company, so…
anyway, point is, it isn’t hard to figure out what is meant, you use the internet, so it should be quite the common sight by now. Especially on these forums.
How did you manage to get this patch certified with a game breaking bug? Other developers have had patches pulled for less. Surely you can’t really release this patch, it has to be pulled. It sets a dangerous precedent.
Welcome to the world of Capitalism, Jimbo, where making a quick buck is more important than making it right! This SHOULD be completely unacceptable, especially for a first party title. I am not sure when releasing broken patches became the norm, but I don’t subscribe to it. This game has already been garbage to me since day 1 with public lobbies that are completely unplayable. If not for a good solid group of racers I play with in private lobbies, I would walk away from this game forever more after this release. Broken patches just help tip that scale even further and then to not bother fixing it for at least another month is just insane.
That’s a joke right? First time a patch is released with bugs?
Codemasters took almost half a year to release a patch to fix a broken achievement. The same with neverwinter (which actually broke the achievements with a patch!).
And let’s not forget Project Cars patch 4 or 5 which forced you to delete the save game if you wanted to save car setups again.
