To people who say "I've been playing Forza since ____"

The squirrel in the tree. But on a side note, people ask the question because if you have played since 5, or 6, or haven’t played since 4 well a lot has changed. Personally, playing every game means i’ve seen every detail of the game as it’s evolved, and not evolved over the years.

It kinda does add a bit of validity. You can’t really compare apples to apples if you haven’t experienced both the good and bad of new and old. Hence why newer guys are mostly somewhat happy while those who’ve been here long enough are able to see the cracks in the welds.

I’m guessing that people throw that out there to separate themselves from newcomers to imply that their opinions are well-founded in order to be taken more seriously.

FM1’er here, cheers to all comers whenever you came

Recently went back to play a bit of FM1. Holy moly - that FPS rate tho :frowning:

I think it does. I’ve been playing Motorsport since 2005.

I’ve been playing Forza since Forza Motorsport 2 and I agree with you.

Sorry had to do it, but I do agree with the point you’re making.

Uhhh…I played the game that Forza’s based on. Every thing from hoppers, leader boards, paint, physics, tracks and multiplayer is virtually unchanged from that game in 1995. I’ts all the same grind with pretty bits thrown in to make us forget that we’re still playing that same old game. Which was a brilliant game and still holds up against all that has come after it…So there…Charles

It does and it doesn’t.

If FM were a series then having played the previous releases would be essential in order to fully judge the latest one.

It isn’t a series though. It’s a franchise with each game being a stand alone product. Sometimes, constantly comparing FM with earlier releases clouds the issue. FM7 is FM7 and if you view it as an individual game you’ll get a different perspective than comparing it with other FMs.

It really depends on what point they are trying to make.

Someone posted something like “not much has changed…but this is the first FM game I have played”.

Oh yeah?

Well back in my day we judged the worth of everyones opinion based on their laptimes or their artwork. And we was fine with it.

Now all of a sudden all you young whippersnappers want to change the rules.

Well my laptimes are probably on a downward spiral now, my opinion too then

And as for my artwork - I struggle doing a basic two tone or stripe.

It does emphasise the disappointment when you’re a long-time fan who’s been watching the series and buying day-one for years, but FM7 breaks the chain and leaves you skipping altogether.

Depends really. If you are asking the question whether FM7 is an excellent game then someone who has played all the Forza games may have a different opinion and that opinion is more valid. This is due to experience and witnessing the direction of the franchise.

I don’t agree.

If someone likes FM7 then it is excellent to them. It matters not whether they have 1 weeks Forza experience or 1 decade.

Good or bad does not need to be measured against the past.

Well that comment was worth the server space, a fine example of forum tourettes

Actually, it does. A drop in quality is not something you expect right out of the box once you’re used to a certain level of quality and polish. It applies to any area of life, not just gaming.

So if you’re picking up a Forza game for the very first time, you will undeniably enjoy it more and not even pay attention to the issues it currently suffers from. If you’ve been an old time consumer, you will notice the glaring issues right away. It’s quite simple.

But I am level 12 Forza Rewards rank…

Is this just a baiting post? It’s very confrontational right off the bat.
Stop doing that it doesn’t make your opinion any more valid.
Well it does when you’re talking about the way the series has evolved for the worse.
We get it, your new, you like the game, but don’t tell everyone else how to act. Everyone will have different opinions due to their experience. That’s why the tuning and painting forums are full of people asking for advice from LONG TIME players etc.
We get it, your new, your opinion is supposed to count for something, but it doesn’t and that irks you, you’re trying to force people to validate you. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. If you post something constructive, i’ll read it, if you continue to post these “look at me, i’m valid” threads, i’ll ignore them.
That’s how it works. Post something good people will read, post more threads like these and you’ll quickly sink to the bottom of the page.
That’s just how it is.

It is simply as follows for any Business practice:

Returning customers are the best customers.
They are invested. They continue to invest. They tend to spend the most and the most reliable Money on a product.

Also they have experience, know the weaknesses and the strength of a product.

There is an old businessman saying:
It takes 10 times the effort to sign a new csutomer than keeping an existing loyal customer.
Loyal customers just buy your product. They don’t need extensive marketing and advertisement. They just buy, trusting in the Company.

If I were Turn 10, I’d listen to my loyal customer base very closely and in all circumstances.

Take a look at the consoles for example:

Xbox 360 was majorly selling better than PlayStation 3 was.
Microsoft undoubtedly ruled the last console generation.

This Generation it is completely reversed.
And the only reason is: Microsoft forgot, what the customers were expecting.
They lost millions, possibly billions of cash as a result in a race they can never catch up again.

And of course, listening to positive feedback gets you nowhere.
It’s the negative Feedback you can learn from and must listen to if you want to stay in Business.
