Thrustmaster tx wheel rim question

Hey guys. I just received my tx wheel. At first sight i thought omg this thing is cheap (i currently use a Fanatec csw\csp v2 setup for pc games). I hooked it all up and what an amazing difference in immersion from the controller. Any of you have the stock 458 rim and the gte rim? Would like to know if the gte rim sticks out from the base any less? How much smaller in diameter is the gte wheel if any at all? Also is the gte wheel worth the extra cash? I put in an order for the basherboards cpx adapter, but have not heard back from him. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you download the latest software upgrade as it lets you choose 4 levels of force feed back, degrees of wheel rotation, and auto clutch ( so you can run manual without clutch with just the paddles) for the ffb press mode and ry paddle and it moves 1 level at a time. Degrees of steering press mode button and d-pad rt.( red start button of left side of the wheel) and auto clutch press mode button and the A button. You have to press the mode button first and almost simotaneously the other button. Have fun with the wheel. I do like mine but as I have wrote in another forum I want a Fanatec again. CPX adapter is awesome!!! I only have the stock rim but from the reveiws I have read people really like the add on rim.

Hello Dan. Dartman501? I just registered the other day on basherboards and we had a little conversation. hahaha. Trying to wake Jon up to make some cpx’s. lol When i change the rotation does it actually change in the game? Seems like i barely have to turn the wheel no matter what i set it to on wheel. I have 900 in game and the wheel and just doesn’t seem the same as my pc games. The wheel really is a lot of fun on Forza 5, but i have to say i miss my Fanatec. It’s sitting there begging me to put it back on my rig. lol. I wish Fanatec would get on the ball.

Yes a different name but the same person. And we meet again. LOL Yes it does change in the game from the wheel although it seems to have more effect on some cars than others I have noticed. You can also change from the actual game settings and from the controller menu press X button. There you can change the dead zones. I run 0 - 100 and if I remember correctly the default is 15 - 85. That will make a big difference. You also may want to adjust the gas and brake dead zones while you are there. I drive normally manual with clutch but if you drive in automatic I would set the gas and brake to 2 - 100 as if you need reverse it will not go not reverse if the gas is still registering anything for forward. It will go into reverse quicker.

Thanks Dan. What is your setup with rotation in wheel and sensitivity? Also rotation in game? Thanks man.

Is the TX safe to leave the power supply plugged in seeing that there is no power on\off switch? Say what…no power on\off switch? lol Also can i leave it plugged into the xboxone? Thanks

I have a switched outlet on my stereo and I plug my TX in there. When the Xbox comes on it turns on my TV, XBOX, and STEREO which in turn turns on my TX Wheel

By the way I will get you my settings soon but was out of town for a bit

What is the difference between Manual and Auto Clutch?

One of the things I haven’t attempted with the Tx wheel is to assign one of the buttons to clutch, but with the previous FMs I could typically cut ~1 second from most courses when using Manual + Clutch on my wheels. Does “Auto Clutch” actually engage the clutch when using the paddle shifters? In other words, is it the same as Manual (no clutch) or does it engage the clutch some very small time prior to up/down shifting? The button layout on the Tx + the way I setup my stand/position makes using the A/B buttons awkward for something I’d use as often as the clutch…

The auto-clutch works by automatically sending a button A press when you use the shift paddles. So you just drive the car as you normally would on manual without clutch. You need to choose a wheel profile in the game that maps the A button to clutch. Unfortunately this means you lose the ability to look left/right because there is no button profile that has look left/right AND button A mapped to clutch.

Thanks, I’ll give this a try, because that should certainly help with the lap times.
