Whats up guys, I have a question about using the TX Wheel and FM6. When I start a race with car in manual I have to press the upshift paddle or the car stays in Neutral. With the controller, the car is always in first at the beginning of the race. Is this a setting issue or just how the TX wheel is?
I use the wheel and do not have this issue. Car is always in 1st gear, I use manual and clutch. Not sure why you have this issue.
Hey Gordata,
I have the same issue but I think mine is a easy fix.
My setup;
Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition
Thrustmaster VG TH8A Add-On Gearbox Shifter
Thrustmaster T3PA 3-Pedal Wide Pedal Set
For the most part I do manual shifting with the paddle shifters with auto-clutch, with the older cars I like to use my add-on H pattern shifter and my clutch pedal.
It only makes sense that because I have the VG TH8A plugged into the wheel at all times and the add on H pattern shifter which is sitting in the neutral position is why I start the race in neutral.
I will try disconnecting my VG TH8A add on shifter from the wheel tonight and see if that fixes it.
I have been reading on the forums that people with sequential shifter setups are always starting the race in the last gear they were in when finishing the previous race.
Hopefully they can patch the game so we can see and select the gear we want before the race actually starts.
Good point, I also use the TH8A shifter… but its connected in Sequential shift setup… and is a great add-on but doesn’t affect the start of the race.
That must be it since I have the shifter connected. Going to try tonight without it connected.
If you have the shifter connected with the H-pattern insert leave it in first if you want to use the paddles for a race. You can shift up and down from there when the race starts using the paddles, but at the start of the race you will be in whatever gear the shifter is in - it’s embarrassing when you start a race with it in sixth … :-/
LOL Toni, I did that myself once and I can tell you it is not just a Thrustmaster issue as I have a Fanatec Rig now. Like you said leave the shifter in First and then use the paddles as normal and I have mine set to manual not manual with clutch.
I always keep my shifter in 1st but you say your using sequential. I have never tried sequential on my th8a but if your using sequential its “always” in neutral. From what I understand the side to side Neutral in h pattern gets rotated so it goes up and down. Have you tried holding it in upshift while waiting for the launch, This should force it into first. I personally only use the hshift and if its not a car that shifts like that I just put it on manual and use the paddles.
I have this same issue. As mentioned, if you have the H-pattern connected, you can just leave it in first.
It’s a bug that should be fixed though, along with the overly sensitive gear grinding. …and starting with 4% transmission damage…and having 1st gears that are too tall to launch.
